Daddy’s Touch: Building Bonds with Every Stroke

The power of touch goes beyond the physical — it’s an emotional connection, a language that communicates love, trust, and security. And when it comes to dads, the bond formed through infant massage is incredibly special.

Encouraging a dedicated daddy-baby massage time not only strengthens the father-child connection, but it also:
✨ Promotes emotional development: Babies thrive on loving touch, and fathers who engage in massage help nurture their baby’s emotional security.
✨ Fosters trust and attachment: Babies recognize the rhythm of their dad’s touch, which can help deepen their sense of safety and love.
✨ Supports physical development: Gentle massage can help relieve tension, stimulate circulation, and promote overall relaxation.
✨ Enhances communication: Non-verbal touch is a vital way for dads to connect and communicate with their little ones. It creates a peaceful space where both parent and child can truly be present with one another.

Whether it’s quiet moments after bath time or a playful massage during the day, daddy-baby bonding time can be a calming, joyful experience for both.

Dads, how have you used touch to bond with your little one?

We’d love to hear your experience or any tips you’ve found helpful for building that connection.

Today we celebrate The International Day of Infant Massage and Nurturing Touch.

A day dedicated to the power of loving connections - through gentle, intentional touch that soothes, supports and strengthens lifelong bonds.

This special day also marks the birthday of Vimala McClure, the visionary founder of the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM)

Her compassion and commitment has touched the lives of families all over the world. Thank you Vimala McClure for gifting us with a practice rooted in love, respect, and presence.

Let's continue to honour her legacy by spreading the message of nurturing touch - one gentle stroke, one heartbeat at a time.

Never liked the "Fight" terminology often used around cancer patients. Cancer cares little about attitudes, it succumbs to good treatments. The REAL fight is ensuring every patient has fair and timely access to those treatments without a fight they simply don't have the time and energy for.

For all the cancer treatment advancements in the world mean nothing to the person denied access to them.

We already see this reality in Ireland today. Without real will to acknowledge the situation and a focus on working towards timely solutions, people trying to survive and live with cancer are left without hope.

We must be their voice. The best chance of survival comes down to the right treatment for the right person at the right time. Let us all call loud and clear for that basic human right to life.

It's Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week!
At the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM), we stand in support of all mothers navigating the emotional journey of parenthood.

Maternal mental health matters, and this week is a vital reminder that support, connection, and nurturing touch can make a powerful difference.

Did you know that infant massage offers incredible benefits not just for babies, but also for maternal well-being?

Through infant massage, parents can experience:

💜 Enhanced bonding and connection with their baby

💜 Reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression

💜 Increased confidence in understanding their baby’s cues

💜 A calming, mindful moment during the often-overwhelming early days of parenthood

The simple act of loving, respectful touch helps regulate stress, promotes relaxation, and strengthens the emotional link between parent and child. At IAIM, our mission is to nurture healthy parent-infant relationships through touch and communication.

This Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, we encourage you to reach out, support one another, and explore tools, like infant massage, that foster both emotional and physical well-being. There is lots of support to be found, for example at

You're not alone. Your mental health matters.
Let’s keep talking, connecting, and caring, one gentle touch at a time.
