A really enjoyable afternoon seeing the progress of the training facilities as they are building their centre of excellence, which are already very impressive!
It was great meeting Sam and Abby heads of the medical and physiotherapy depts and looking forward to helping any way I can to build on the unbelievable success the team have had already.

Not all Achilles injuries are Achilles at all.

This young academy footballer presents with pain in the Achilles area, and not responding to rehab; with little to no pain on testing, point of care ultrasound visualised a perfectly normal Achilles tendon! Functional testing however, of his Tib post tendon after visualising tenosynovitis on ultrasound reproduced pain and confirmed clinical diagnosis of PTTD.
Custom 3d printed Orthotics, and targeted strengthening rehab progressed with sports physio and he’ll be back playing sooner rather than later.

Often overlooked cause of forefoot pain, metatarsal stress fracture.
Here seen on the 5th metatarsal.
Classic too much too soon, after too little for too long.
Bones need load to be strong, and they need to recover after strenuous exercise just like everything else.
