I’m really pleased to share that an article I co-authored with has just been published in the European Journal of Psychotherapy & Counselling ✨
“Humanising psychotherapy training in the UK” explores how dominant, Eurocentric trauma-informed frameworks often fail to meaningfully engage with race, sexuality, and power, particularly in work with Black q***r men.
Grounded in my MSc research, the paper argues that decolonising psychotherapy training isn’t an optional add-on. It’s a necessary ethical shift if trauma-informed care is to be culturally responsive, relationally attuned, and clinically effective.
This is for therapists, educators, and researchers who are asking:
Who is trauma-informed care really designed for?
And whose lived experience continues to be marginalised in training and practice?
I hope this paper contributes to ongoing conversations about how psychotherapy is taught, conceptualised, and delivered in the UK and beyond.
