Your voice is not just something you hear, you feel it in your body.

And with intention, visualising colour whilst sounding your voice can help support and shift our state.

Try this exercise

The intention here is -
To visualise a colour and allow a sound to come from what it feels like.

Not from thinking, from sensing.

Your breath is what supports this.
It takes you deeper, softens the body, and carries the sound.

Take x 3 deep breaths, and slowly sigh out.

There is no pressure for it to sound perfect. More than anything it is about releasing a sound from your voice as it is. Your voice is vibration, and here it becomes the vibration of the colour you are visualising.

There is no right sound. This is just about noticing.

Take a slow breath and visualise the colour red.
As you exhale, gently let a sound come out.
Notice where you feel it in your body. Try a few times until it connects and feels natural.
Let your breath guide you.

Then try another colour, move to orange.
Allow the sound to shift if it wants to.
Follow the guidance above.

Then try yellow.
Notice if anything feels lighter or more open.

Then try green, notice if you sense the colour and sound coming from a particular place in the body.

And then try blue. What does blue sound like?

Take your time with each one.
Let your breath support you and your voice.

When you finish, pause.

Was there one colour that felt more supportive?
One that softened something or gave you a sense of space?

That colour is something you can return to in your day.
Through your breath, your voice, or simply your awareness.

There are moments when everything feels a little too loud.

The mind keeps racing ahead, the body feels far away, and it becomes harder to hear yourself clearly.

This practice isn’t about fixing anything, it’s a way of returning.

Back into your body.
Back into your breath.
Back into your own voice.

Nothing about you needs to change in order for you to begin.

And you deserve this time to pause and practice.

To feel your feet.
To hear your breath.
To speak and listen, without rushing past it.

Return to Voice is a space for that kind of return.

Affirmation this April.

I am here. I am present. With this intention, I move with the worlds inside and around me. I invite stillness, gratitude, and wonder to guide my day.

This month, open to the world through your senses. Feel the temperature of your breath. Notice the energy flowing through your body. Listen deeply, tune into a conversation or the movement of nature and life around you.

Touch, see, hear, and feel with intention. Allow yourself to express freely, maybe invite yourself to hum for a minute each day. These moments help to bring you fully into yourself and the world.

A short practice to set intentions today for Osara, Spring Equinox, a time of renewal and growth.

With your eyes open, follow my guidance in the video. Breathe deeply and hum three times. Take a moment to set an intention and allow yourself to hold space for all that you deserve to bloom and flourish. Afterwards, bow in gratitude for all that you are and have in your life. Life is precious.

We also celebrate Iranian New Year, Nowruz, which means New Day - sending prayers for freedom and peace. 🌼

Using your voice to prepare your space 🎶

The voice is central to my sound practice, aiding personal sound exploration and guiding others to discover theirs.

Sound, combined with intention, serves as an important tool for cleansing and infusing healing energy into a space. Before sessions, workshops, or talks, I prepare my space using vocal techniques.

Methods to cleanse your space with your voice -

Sounding with Intention
Stand at your space’s centre. Connect deeply to your intention before vocalising; the purpose behind the sound holds more significance than the sound itself.

Toning with Vowels
Chanting vowels like A, E, I, O, U can resonate powerfully within a space. Begin with a low tone, progressing through each vowel, allowing the sound to linger. Visualise these tones filling every corner, purifying and harmonising the environment.

Affirmations
Craft simple affirmations that align with your space’s desired energy, such as “I am safe and supported” or “This space is clear and full of light.” Repeat them aloud several times, embedding these affirmations and vibrations into the room’s essence.

Drum and Voice Combination
If you have a drum or percussion instrument, blend its rhythm with your voice. I also use the shaker. The drum’s steady beat can anchor your vocal vibrations, enriching the space’s energy.

Resonant Clearing
Produce higher-pitched or sharp tones that cut through the air, helping to disperse stagnant energy. Move slowly through the room, letting your voice adapt to the space’s flow, focusing on areas that feel heavy or obstructed.

Intuitive Humming and Sounding
Embrace spontaneous humming or vocalisations, allowing your voice to flow without overthinking, my preferred approach. Tune into the room’s energy, adjusting your sounds as needed. This intuitive method cultivates a profound connection with the space, setting the space for what you and your participants may need during this time.

These vocal practices can be applied in various settings, including your home, car, hotel room, or workplace, to cultivate a harmonious environment.

Happy World Sound Day! Sound healing is our true valentine, sending loving vibrations to every part of us. 🤍

Sound isn’t just something we hear, it’s a powerful force that influences our mind, body, and energy.

Different frequencies impact our brainwaves, shaping our mood, creativity, and overall wellbeing.
