Happy Easter from everyone at Springdene Care Homes
At Springdene Care Homes, where life is for living, meaningful engagement is at the heart of everything we do 🌼
As part of our Easter celebrations, residents enjoyed a Hot Cross Bun Tasting Experience, exploring a variety of flavours - from Berry Blush and St Clements to Belgian Chocolate and traditional favourites.
This was more than a tasting - it was a multi-sensory, person-centred experience that encouraged choice, independence and meaningful interaction. Residents compared flavours, shared memories of Easter traditions and actively voted for their favourites.
The session supported cognitive stimulation, social connection and emotional wellbeing, with thoughtful adaptations to ensure inclusivity for all, including those living with dementia or requiring one-to-one engagement.

🎹 Celebrating World Piano Day at Springdene Care Homes 🎹
At Springdene Care Homes, where life is for living, music is part of everyday life — and today we proudly celebrate the magic of the piano.
Across all of our homes, the piano brings people together. From professional performances to spontaneous playing by staff, visiting relatives, schoolchildren during intergenerational visits, and even our residents themselves — music flows through our communities in the most meaningful way.
The piano is more than an instrument; it’s a powerful tool for connection, reminiscence, expression and joy. For many of our residents, familiar melodies unlock memories, spark conversation and create truly special shared moments.
We are proud to have created environments where everyone is encouraged to sit down, play, listen and be part of something uplifting — because music belongs to everyone.
🎶 Today, we celebrate every note, every player and every smile that the piano brings.

🌼 Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus from Springdene Care Homes! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🐉
We proudly celebrated St David’s Day with a wonderful Welsh-themed experience across our homes. Residents enjoyed traditional Tan Y Castell Welsh cakes, Abergavenny goat’s cheese and (for those who wished) a small tasting of Aber Falls Welsh single malt whisky.
With Welsh music playing, dancing and even a little clogging, the atmosphere was full of energy, reminiscence and laughter. 🌼
A particularly special part of the day was celebrating our own Welsh residents, Rona and Ian, whose pride and personal stories made the occasion even more meaningful.
St David’s famous words were:
“Do the little things.”
At Springdene Care Homes, we truly believe it is the little things — shared moments, cultural celebrations and meaningful connections — that make the biggest difference. 💚❤💛

Yesterday we proudly celebrated International Women and Girls in Science Day at Spring Lane Care Home 💛

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful cognitive and reminiscence activity exploring the achievements of some of history’s most brilliant scientific minds — including Marie Curie, Rosalind Franklin, Ada Lovelace, Katherine Johnson and Jane Goodall.

The highlight of the session was celebrating the achievements of our very own resident, Professor Mary Forsling (Townley-Smith), who shared reflections on her remarkable career in neuroscience and physiology. It was a truly inspiring reminder that extraordinary life stories live right here within our home.

A beautiful afternoon of learning, memories, and celebration ✨

Professor Mary studied and worked at Barts Health NHS Trust, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London
