📖 The History of Medicine provides a deep dive into the fascinating journey of practices from circa 1500 BCE to the present day.

Topics range from Egyptian and Islamic Medicine, Medieval and Renaissance Medicine, through to psychiatry, epidemics and public .

Taught at a postgraduate level, the History of Medicine course is designed to help participants fulfil their personal objectives and interests in medical history.

🙌 Congratulations to Chelsea Physic Garden on being awarded accreditation by Botanic Gardens Conservation International - BGCI!

Established in 1673 by the Society of Apothecaries as an outdoor classroom for training apprentices, the Garden has grown into London's oldest botanic garden and is internationally recognised for medicinal plant research, education and conservation.

🗣️ Did you know that last Friday was ?

Emma, a newly qualified Clinical Pharmacist at Barts Health NHS Trust, became an Apprentice Apothecary during her pre-registration training, when she was apprenticed to the Master at the time, Dr Julia Neild MBE. Through the Society, she gained valuable learning opportunities, inspiring lectures, and the chance to connect with clinicians from across and .

For Emma, the offered not only professional development, but a meaningful connection to the heritage and community of the profession.

Julia, who first became an apprentice as a , now mentors the next generation. For her, apprenticeship is about offering guidance, sharing experience, and welcoming into a supportive professional community.

In Julia’s words:
“An apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity for students to be given personal mentoring to learn about the Apothecaries’ heritage, to take part in its rich variety of academic and social events and to share experiences and mutual support with other apprentices and apothecaries which will broaden their outlook and enhance their education.”
