“Sports chiropractic isn’t just about the spine — it’s about the whole body.”
➡️
This cyclist is recovering from a grade 1 re**us femoris tear in her left quad. With her cycling holiday in Mallorca just around the corner, our goal has been to safely progress her rehab so she’s strong, pain-free, and confident on the bike.
➡️
I used a multi-modal approach:
🔹 Dry Needling with Electrical Stimulation — restores quad activation, improves circulation, and reduces tension at the injury site
🔹 Fascial Flossing — enhances tissue mobility, reduces residual tightness, and prepares the quad for load
🔹 Cupping with Movement — decompresses soft tissue, promotes blood flow, and restores pain-free range
➡️
I also graded her rehab daily, carefully adjusting the load based on what her body could tolerate. This ensures steady progress without overstressing the healing muscle — while building her back up for cycling-specific demands.
➡️
Why this is beneficial for the athlete:
✅ Restores neuromuscular control of the quad
✅ Builds tolerance to cycling-specific loading
✅ Minimises risk of re-injury during long climbs or sprints
✅ Keeps her on track to enjoy Mallorca next week 🚴♀️🌴
➡️
👉 A common misconception is that as a sports chiropractor, I only manipulate the spine. The reality? We work with the entire musculoskeletal system — every joint, every muscle — to keep athletes moving, performing, and doing what they love.”
