We need to be clear as the year comes to a close.
Each therapeutic yoga session at MahaDevi costs £70 to deliver. Families pay £35. Without enough monthly support, we will have to raise fees and some families will no longer be able to attend.
A parent in our community shared this with us:
“For my son, positive physical experiences are few and far between and exercise is non-existent, unless he has accessible leisure activities like yoga and hydrotherapy, because of his level of need.
There is limited positive physical enjoyment for my son. That is why regular yoga sessions are so important. Yoga gives him a range of movement he cannot do himself. It relieves the acute and chronic pain he can experience and helps with the stiffness in his body.”
This is what is at stake.

This is our girls’ group, sharing what yoga means to them in their own words. These sessions are about friendship, confidence and having a place where you can feel calm and supported.

We asked one of our older students, Paul, what yoga means to him.
They said:
“Relaxing and sleep better. I’m improving all the time. Start of it, I wasn’t doing it properly and then I started to learn how to do it.”
These words remind us that progress in yoga does not need to be fast or perfect. It grows slowly, with patience, practice and support. For many older adults with additional needs, yoga offers calm, better rest and a feeling of learning and improving at their own pace.

We wanted to share something openly with you. Each therapeutic yoga session costs £70 to deliver, but families currently pay £35. We fund the other half through grants and donations so that young people and adults with additional needs can continue to attend.
