We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Worker.

This is an ongoing contract.
The hours will be Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.
The hourly rate will be £13.88.

Job Details

The main purpose of this role is to ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment for service users, staff and visitors to the Centre/Hostel by providing a repair and maintenance servicein order to keep the various buildings and grounds to the highest standard for service users, staff and visitors, whilst minimising the need for external contractors.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who is focused first and foremost on the views and needs of the external and internal customers. This role is part of the Maintenance team within the Facilities department.

Responsibilities and duties include:

· To undertake regular checks of the premises (internal and external), undertaking tasks which include but not restricted to: water checks, fire escape routes, lighting, small electrics (where applicable), and plumbing. Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator where more major maintenance or repairs are required.

· To undertake emergency repairs; making safe plumbing, electric or glazing until a specialist contractor can attend.

· To assist with deliveries and internal furniture removals, setting up rooms for conference or programme activity use and tidying away, and other heavier listing tasks.

Applicants should have:

· Trade experience in building, painting, plumbing and/or electrical work

· Experience of dealing with contractors

· Have an understanding of safe working practices, including lifting techniques

· Customer and quality focus

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
