A charity in Croydon dedicated working with disabled people for disabled people. RUTHERFORD SCHOOL is an Independent Special School for up to 25 children aged 3 – 19 years with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), severe sensory impairment and complex medical needs. The curriculum delivers bespoke education integrated with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, speech and lan

guage therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy and nursing care. The School has recently completed a new immersive learning space and separate sensory room both of which have been designed specifically to empower the pupils to effectively control their environment. JEAN GARWOOD HOUSE is a registered residential home for adults with a range of disabilities which prides itself on its sense of community. To meet their needs, the residents at the home are encouraged to lead as independent and sociable lives as possible with the support of the care team. BRAMLEY HILL CENTRE is a day centre for up to 60 adults aged 18 – 70+ with various disabilities such as cerebral palsy, degenerative and acquired disabilities. It provides a safe, friendly and supportive environment in which to enjoy social, educational and therapeutic activities and work opportunities.

Express yourself! Students from Rutherford School were invited to attend The Children's Trust annual art festival. With accessible art, every student could participate and express their creativity. Using visual cues students from pouring stations to spinning paint, using the snow machine and dancing to their favourite songs, students used cues to choose how they wanted to express themselves.

Thanks to the Children's Trust for inviting Rutherford School, you can see how much our students enjoyed themselves!

Starting in September, we're looking for a term time registered nurse to work with our students aged 16-25 at Rutherford School. You will be part of a highly experienced multidisciplinary team and an integral part of our school, providing a high standard of holistic nursing care to our students.

We have walls! Block and beam flooring was installed and the walls have started going up, along with insulation. The new build at Rutherford School is really taking its shape now. We hope you're enjoying watching the scale of our ambition come to life. Just as we encourage our students to push the limits of their disabilities, we're pushing our build onwards.

You can push the build to completion too, by donating to our Space to Thrive appeal. Every donation is going to completing this build for our students to have the facilities they need to shine.

Oh, we are set for some hard work at Bramley Hill… Thanks so much to Crown Paints UK for providing the paint we needed to look after and protect the outside of our building, but also to add some colour and a refresh to the inside.
Our lovely delivery drivers even helped unload. Now the hard work begins. Stay tuned to see how the space will look after painting!

What better way to celebrate World Music Day than showcase our Rutherford School students enjoying music and instruments from across the world? Our talented music teacher, Sarah, designs and runs music sessions across our curriculum. This one was designed to introduce students to each other’s cultures. Originally for Cultural Diversity Day, we think it shows the pure enjoyment of music which makes it perfect for today too.
