Today, we’re celebrating the 47th birthday of Louise Joy Brown, the world’s first baby born through IVF, and marking World Embryologist Day. ✨

You might’ve seen her story in the Netflix film "Joy", which captures the ground breaking moment fertilisation took place outside the human body for the very first time.

Leading that pioneering team were Nobel Prize winner Sir Robert Edwards, embryologist Jean Purdy, and gynaecologist Patrick Steptoe — the trio behind the world’s first IVF baby. Sir Robert Edwards later went on to co-found London Women’s Clinic.

Dr Kamal Ahuja, our Scientific Director, worked closely with Sir Robert Edwards, creating a direct link between the birth of IVF and the work we continue to do today.

This year, we’re proud to be celebrating 40 years of family-making — and we’re so grateful to our incredible team of embryologists who help create families across our 17 clinics nationwide.

We’ve been spotted in The Guardian today 🗞️ We’re proud to be featured as part of a special partnership with Diversity Umbrella and , that celebrates our commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion in fertility care. Our founder and director, Dr. Kamal Ahuja, was recognised as a champion for inclusive fertility care, his pioneering work has helped break down barriers in reproductive healthcare for 40 years. We’ve always believed in the right to family-making, for every kind of family. ❤️

We were honoured to support Real Housewives of New York star on her egg retrieval journey. After researching fertility clinics around the world, Brynn chose to begin her journey with our expert team at Harley Street. “I wanna be a mommy someday! Definitely doesn’t have to be tomorrow, but definitely sooner than later,” she shared.
 
With a personalised treatment plan and daily check-ins with our specialist team, she shared that 20 eggs were collected and 15 were successfully frozen. While there’s no set ‘normal’ for egg retrieval, factors like age and ovarian reserve can influence the number of eggs collected. What matters most is that Brynn felt informed, supported, and empowered throughout. 🧡

With talks from leading fertility specialists, inspiring patient stories, and an incredible line-up of exhibitors, it was a day grounded in our IVF Manifesto values: inclusive care, clarity, transparency, and community. 🌈  Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our brilliant partners who helped make the day so special.
