Our last Keynote Speaker at the AT Congress Dublin was the inspiring Chipo Chung. So good to hear her report how she took Alexander Technique into her life and 'it has been instrumental in how I survived as an actor'.

Prof. Lorimer Mosely and David Anderson leading the discussion about The Role of the Brain and Mind in Chronic Pain. Such a fascinating and complicated topic!

We had an excellent discussion on the Alexander Technique and Traumatic Responses at the AT Congress. Gaining new insights about the impact of AT work, as seen through the lens of Polyvagal theory. The guest speaker was Dr Stephen Porges himself, with Anthony Kingsley and Betsy Polatin. Good stuff!!

Visiting UCD for the Alexander Technique Congress in Dublin and came across this interesting sculpture. The figure is so twisted and distorted for artistic affect - but surely looks in need of some Alexander lessons!

One of my favourite activities, foraging for blackberries, is quite a good lesson in mindfulness! You need to pause, to think about where you are putting your hands, avoiding prickles wasps and bees. Then you need to use just the right amount of pressure to pull the ripest berry off the bush, without squashing it - all the time being aware of how you are bending down, or reaching high up, so that you look after your neck and back. It's such a pleasurable and calming activity, which ends up with a walk home and, ultimately, some jars full of delicious blackberry jam!

I love the view from my AT teaching studio. Even on a dull day it lifts my spirits. We can see sky, plants, trees, birds, squirrels - and occasionally a foxcub! It's great to connect with the natural world whilst we work on ourselves.
