NEW TEAM MEMBER!!! - We welcome James Symons to our fantastic team at Phoenix Osteopathy. 🙌🏼

In the clinic, James is known for being approachable and attentive. He takes the time to listen carefully, explain clearly, and make sure every patient feels comfortable and supported. 💆🏼‍♂️ Drawing on a wide range of techniques, including osteopathic manipulation, soft tissue massage, medical acupuncture, and tailored exercise programs, he creates individual treatment plans that not only relieve symptoms but also address their root cause.

His goal is to give each person the tools and confidence to manage their health long-term.

James combines his background in elite sport with his osteopathic approach to help people move with confidence, overcome pain, and feel at their best. Having proudly represented Great Britain 🇬🇧 in Modern Pentathlon, he understands first-hand how important it is to keep the body functioning well – whether it’s for daily life, recovering from injury, or reaching peak performance. 📈
Outside of work, James enjoys an active lifestyle and quality time with friends. He has a passion for watersports such as scuba diving 🤿, swimming 🏊‍♂️ and surfing 🏄‍♂️, and also finds balance in golf 🏌🏼‍♂️or countryside walks 🥾!!

Cranial osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on approach used to assess and support the body’s natural ability to release tension and maintain balance. Despite its name, cranial osteopathy is not limited to the head—it can be applied to the whole body. Practitioners use very light touch to feel for subtle movements and strains in the tissues, which may be contributing to discomfort or imbalance.
This approach is often used as part of a broader osteopathic treatment plan and may be suitable for people of all ages. Treatment is always based on a detailed case history and physical examination, and tailored to each person’s individual needs.

Perrin Technique is a process of diagnosing Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and providing patients with gentle osteopathic treatment, lifestyle modifications and home exercise/massage that aim to improve ME/CFS symptoms. Perrin Technique aims to improve poor lymphatic drainage, stimulate healthy fluid flow around the brain and spinal cord and promote regulation of the sympathetic system.

The Perrin Technique may also benefit individuals suffering from post-viral fatigue, long covid & fibromyalgia due to the similar physiological processes that happen in the body with these conditions.

Our practitioners are fully trained and licensed to carry out a Mummy MOT®. Mums need to bend, squat and lift so we provide postnatal clinical care and functional exercises for female clients following birth (no matter how long ago).

Up to half of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to a third still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post-birth. This can cause instability or poor core strength leading to women developing pelvic or back pain or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. These conditions should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.
Assessments are recommended at 6-8 weeks postnatal, but we also treat women who gave birth years ago that may still have a tummy gap or related pelvic floor issues.

* Full postural screen.
* Pelvic floor muscle assessment.
* Abdominal muscle exam to check for any separation.
* Screening for bladder, bowel or sexual dysfunction.

* Education and advice on safe activities such as lifting your baby or pushing a buggy.
* Bespoke rehabilitation programme with your goals and lifestyle factors in mind.
* A written report of the findings of your assessment.

Then if needed we go through the design of your bespoke orthotics and get them ordered.

Rehab. We all know it. Rehab exercises are pretty boring and we’ve all been to that appointment that we’ve walked into hoping for some pain relief only to been given a print out of exercises and sent on our way.
At Phoenix Osteopathy, we are pro ‘active recovery’. Hands on treatments to help mobility and pain modulation, combined with rehab homework. Yes some band work, but also tweaks and changes to workouts and activities you’re already taking part in. You journey will involve a thorough case history and assessment, hands on treatment and lifestyle advice, after this we progress to slowly increasing load and activity where we can ensure you get through the exercises correctly and progress you to a full recovery. Like it enough and you’re welcome to carry on with remote based personal training.
