Hi all
I hope you're good.
Following the new lockdown guidance I can confirm that I propose resuming my indoor group classes on TUESDAY 18th MAY The days and times will remain the same. I.e. Mon and Fri morning in st Paul's church hill Winchmore hill n21. Mon 9.30am and Fri at 10.00am: Tues eve at st Andrews church Chase side southgate n14. At 7.00pm: and Sat morning at st Thomas's church hall in Prince George's ave Oakwood n14 at 10.00am .
However, because we can resume outdoor group exercise classes after Easter.
I am also running some park workouts, commencing on TUESDAY 6th APRIL at 7.00pm and SATURDAY 10th APRIL at 10.00am and thereafter every Tuesday and Saturday, until the indoor classes begin.
As usual they will be held in Oakwood park, Prince George ave n14 entrance.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you, and hope that you still have the enthusiasm to return to your fitness routine.

The lure of junk food on our children

🍔🍟🍕🌭🧀

Nothing is more addictive and seductive to our children than fast food, and sugary treats. The younger they are targeted and marketed, the better it is, as far as the fast food industry is concerned.
As parents and carers etc, it is our duty to try to lure them away from this type of culture, and educate them as to the harmful effects of consuming this type of food.
If we can catch them at a young age, we have a better chance of competing with the fast food giants.
Easier said than done, but with constant reinforcement of the negative effects of food which is calorie loaded, with no nutritional value, we do stand a chance of fighting and winning this battle.
If we can introduce our offspring to as much wholesome, basic food with a good variety of proteins, good fats and complex carbohydrates, including fruit and vegetables, whilst at the same time , explaining to them, once they are able to understand, that a healthy diet can help them improve their mental as well as physical welllbeing, meaning that they will be mentally alert enough to perform better with their studies, and also protecting them against depression and fatigue, on the mental health spectrum, and obesity and it's horrendous consequences, on the physical side.
As we know, these issues are very much in the media currently, due to the escalation of mental health problems, depression and anxiety, as well as obesity, amongst the younger generation. Junk food, is one of the significant culprits of this social catastrophe.

New research claims that sleeping with the light on can cause weight gain.

The theory behind this research is due to the resulting sleep disruption, causing hormonal imbalance, connected with appetite. The outcome causes those people to eat more to create energy.

Recent studies have also suggested that techno sleep monitoring devices worn on the wrist, can also disrupt sleep, due to anxiety over how much good quality sleep they are receiving, as displayed on the monitors. Too much information regarding sleep patterns which apparently aren't always accurate, can cause tension, which in turn can result in disturbed sleep. So it may be more advantageous to remove the gadget and relax and not stress about your sleep.
Going to bed and arising at a similar time, every day and endeavouring to give yourself about 7 to 8 hours sleep if possible is the best advice to date.

Another obesity headline.

What does it take to impress upon people the seriousness of being overweight or more concerningly, obese.
We have been confronted with the absolute knowledge that we are killing our planet, which we can no longer avoid the reality of. However, we are ignoring the immense seriousness of the effect obesity is having on human life itself, worldwide.
We now know that even beimg moderately overweight, raises our risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, asthma, and heart failure. Therefore it doesn't take much imagination, to acknowledge the risk of acquiring many other diseases, associated with being obese.
This really should be a priority to anyone falling into this category. Endeavouring to achieve a healthy weight, through diet and exercise, will not only assist in well-being in the individual, but will also alleviate the button on the NHS, which is struggling under the strain of associated illnesses emanating from obesity.

So the strong message is: Take seriously this ticking time bomb, and take responsibility if you haven't already done so.

It may 33 degrees, but it doesn't mean we have to stop exercising. Being fit in the heat, helps you cope better. Don't lose your fitness regime due to the weather.
Anyone who has been remaining active during the past few weeks, will be feeling the benefits, and should feel proud of their efforts.
Still have a class tonight Friday Saturday and Monday before I take a break.
