'He would still be with us today if there had been a defibrillator close by' - Painful and outstanding words by Jamie's mum

His parents, Naomi and Gavin, have been campaigning to have at least 20 defibrillators installed in their local area, and recently, nursery Busy Bees where Jamie had some of his happiest memories installed their defib to support the campaign 🌟

Defibrillators are the most important lifelines for a person suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest. Having one nearby can be a matter of life or death for the victim.

But what if someone you loved was in need of a defibrillator and you come to find out that it had been vandalised beyond repair?

https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/government-face-renewed-calls-to-punish-those-who-damage-defibrillators-1237522.html

It comes after a number of defibrillators were vandalised across the country in recent weeks.

Thirteen-year-old Lucy King, who is from Coleraine, suffered a cardiac arrest in February last year.

Her family say that it was only because they were able to quickly begin CPR and find the nearest defibrillator that Lucy survived

If you own a defibrillator, do not forget to register it with 'The Circuit', which is a dedicated defibrillator network. You could end up saving a life:

Just days ago, on Sunday 17th October 2021, a fan required urgent medical attention during a football match between Newcastle United and Tottenham.

During the 41st minute, the referee at the time, Andre Marriner, was alerted to the issue in the East Stand and made the judgement call to suspend the match for 20 minutes to allow medical staff to get to the stand in time.

Luckily, the stadium had a defibrillator on standby allowing medics to quickly stabilise their condition before rushing them to the hospital. Our thoughts are with the fan and wish them a speedy recovery:

Alex Evans, an open-side flanker for Cwmllynfell RFC has unfortunately passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest during a rugby match on Saturday afternoon

Gareth Evans, the secretary of the club, had described Alex Evans as being "loved in the community and further afield" and further called for every sports club to be given a defibrillator:

Cardiac arrests can strike when you least expect it. Did you know, that in the UK alone, there are 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) every year?

The greater problem is that only 1 in every 10 cardiac arrest victims survive an OHCA. If more people had knowledge about how they can access a defibrillator in times of need, the survival rate could be increased.

Find out more about how you can register your defibrillator today and help save a life:

In fact, in the UK, only 10% of people that experience a cardiac arrest outside of hospitals survive, which means that having a working defibrillator is absolutely critical for every business and sports’ club in the land.

What’s more, it provides an additional lifeline and the confidence that employees will be taken care of in times of need.

Almas Industries would like to wish Christian Eriksen and his family a speedy recovery

The Midfielder had suffered a cardiac arrest during the first half of Denmark's opening game in the Euro 2020 championship against Finland.

With both the right equipment and a fast response, luckily his life was able to be saved.

Denmark’s team doctor, Morten Boesen, confirmed that the 29-year-old had gone into cardiac arrest on the pitch and was brought back through a combination of CPR – the manual cardiopulmonary resuscitation that involves repeated pushing down on the chest – and an electric shock from a defibrillator:
