Sadly our page for nurses, midwives and other clinical staff is drawing to a close in 2025. 😢

We've had an amazing 8 years, bringing you unique staff stories, news, exclusive jobs, great features and photos celebrating colleagues old and new.

So we just want to say a massive thank you to all of our followers, fans and friends around the UK and the world, who have joined us over the years.

Thanks also to all our roving reporters and to all the staff who have shared their career journeys or personal lives.

This includes Nikki Helder, Karen Phillips, Remah Tabjan, Laura Hemmings, Emily Jones, Henrique DelGrossi and Jim Domingo, to name just a few people, without whom we wouldn't have been a success!

Our page will merge with the public facing GSTT page, with information for patients and staff about the Trust.

For staff looking for new challenges in 2025 don't forget we offer regular career advice and support as well as our internal transfer policy on our hospital intranets.

Looking to start your nursing career or need a new challenge?
Please check our jobs website regularly for exciting new opportunities, at: http://bit.ly/GSTTJobs

Best wishes to you all for the future,

Celebrating National Healthcare Support Workers’ (HCSW) Day. 💙
23 November is National Healthcare Support Workers’ Day, so firstly please join us in paying sincere thanks to any HCSWs that you work alongside, for their hard work and dedication to supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

As part of our Trust celebrations, we also organised the first of two special conferences for our clinical assistant workforce (CAW), which you can see in our exclusive gallery.

This was held on Friday 22 November at Governors' Hall, St Thomas' Hospital, and we were joined by CAW staff including nursing assistants, healthcare assistants, AHP assistants, nursing and rehabilitation support workers, maternity support workers and clinical support workers.

The day included a panel discussion with Mags Jubb (Director Education training and Development), Gemma Craig (Deputy Chief Nurse) and Sandra Noonan (Chief AHP), along with information stands, Q&As and much more.

With a great turn out and a positive atmosphere, the day was a great success.

Watch out for the 2nd conference day on Wednesday 4 December. Please see your staff intranet or ask your manager for information.

Thank you to all of our HCSWs for the huge difference you make to our teams, and the lives of our patients and their families every day.

Celebrating Chelle's preceptorship success. 💙
Huge congratulations to Chelle Sarthou, currently working in our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service, who was recently awarded her 'Accelerated preceptorship certificate' of achievement.

Chelle, who was recruited from the Philippines last year, received her award on Friday 13 September from Desireé Ogle (Practice development nurse, Accelerated preceptorship).

Launched in February 2024, our 6 month Accelerated Preceptorship programme involves attending study days, completing a portfolio and written reflection, alongside receiving preceptor support.

The programme is based on the domains from the CapitalNurse Accelerated Preceptorship Guide (2023) and also their Preceptorship Framework (2020).

Completing the programme opens up exciting career and development opportunities at our Trust and enhances clinical skills, leadership potential, and professional growth.

You can discover more about our programme on your relevant staff intranet, from your line manager or by emailing the team, at: AcceleratedPreceptor@gstt.nhs.uk

Finally, we'd just like to say well done again to Chelle for her amazing achievement!

Allied health staff celebrations! 💙
We honoured the great work of our community allied health staff across the NHS, with unique events last month.

Allied health professions (AHPs’) day was held Monday 14 October and colleagues across our community services joined the celebrations with a series of activities, as highlighted in our latest post.

This yearly event helps to highlight many AHP activities and roles, including the staff involved in our local service achievements and their profound influence on patient care and public health.

Deputy Chief AHP Louise Turpin and colleagues in our integrated local services (ILS) directorate organised an amazing day to say thank you for all the great work their AHPs provide.

As the third-largest clinical workforce, AHPs play a pivotal role in supporting the NHS Long Term Plan.

You can find out more about the role of AHPs in the NHS at: https://www.england.nhs.uk/ahp/

Watch out for our ward walkabouts! 💙
Keep an eye out for colleagues from our Workforce team, Desireé Ogle (Practice development nurse, Accelerated preceptorship), Remah Tabjan (International recruitment, nurse-pastoral care) and Sakhi Pawar (Deputy practice development nurse, Workforce transformation).

They go out and about across the Trust visiting nurses in their clinical areas for wellbeing checks, as part of our pastoral care initiative.

They are on hand to support internationally educated nurses and other staff in their new roles, providing help and advice where needed.

The team enjoy going out and meeting their colleagues, who appreciate them making the effort to come to see them in their workplace.

The visits aim to create a safe space for sharing any challenges, an opportunity for conversation and boost morale.

The team hope to visit different areas on a weekly basis and were at Guy's Hospital in October and recently saw dialysis staff at the Tunbridge Wells kidney treatment centre.

So, do say hello if you see our trio on your ward next time!

What do you think of our career and wellbeing visits? 💙
Colleagues at Royal Brompton Hospital enjoyed another successful CAWB trolley event on Wednesday 23 October, as we ask you to share your thoughts on the activity.

The team are looking for your feedback on their visits, so please take 5 minutes to complete the questionnaire online, at: https://bit.ly/3C519C2

The RBH visit was facilitated by a number of staff including Bobby Juniper (Staff Health and Wellbeing Project Lead), Ralph Murdoch, Hafsoa Begum and Workforce CAWB champion Katie Price.

More visits to Royal Brompton and Harefield are planned for later in the year and if your area is interested in arranging a visit, please ask your line manager to email: nursingjobs@gstt.nhs.uk

"Happy Diwali to all colleagues across the NHS!" 💙
Avey Bhatia, Chief Nurse, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Diwali, Deepavali, Jain Diwali, Bandi Chhor Divas, Tihar, Swanti, Sohrai and Bandna, are all celebrations of the Festival of Lights. This is one of the major religious festivals marked every year by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs.

Diwali symbolises the spiritual ‘victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance’.

The festival lasts 5 to 6 days, with a different religious significance marked each day.

During the festival, people light up their homes and workplaces with diyas (cup-shapes, clay oil lamps), candles and lanterns.

This year, Diwali falls on Friday 1 November and we would like to wish all those celebrating a safe and happy Diwali.
