General Naturopathic Council

General Naturopathic Council The aim of the General Naturopathic Council is to regulate and support naturopathic practitioners in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public.

As more and more people choose natural healthcare practitioners alongside conventional medical treatments, the public and medical professions are becoming more interested in the safe practice and efficacy of complementary therapies. In conjunction with Skills for Health, the GNC has recently developed National Occupational Standards for Naturopaths. The GNC is currently discussing voluntary self-r

egulation; this is an ongoing process and the site will be updated with the latest developments and achievements.

This one-day course will explore the role of nutrition in managing common skin conditions, including psoriasis, acne, atopic dermatitis, and rosacea.
It will also consider approaches to support skin ageing.

The day will cover a closer look at the gut-skin axis, systemic inflammation, nutrient interventions, and practical dietary strategies that nutrition practitioners can implement.

Practitioners working with clients looking to address skin health concerns often face the challenge of identifying the root causes of chronic skin conditions, which extend beyond surface-level symptoms. Underlying triggers, such as gut dysbiosis, systemic inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and nutrient deficiencies, play a critical role in skin dysfunction, yet are frequently overlooked.

This course provides practitioners with a comprehensive framework for assessing and addressing these imbalances using evidence-based nutrition and functional laboratory testing.
By integrating targeted dietary strategies, supplementation, and microbiome support, practitioners will gain the tools to personalise interventions and improve client outcomes.

The gut microbiome plays a significant role in regulating, producing, and metabolising various hormones. Research in recent years has shed light on how the bacteria in the gut interact with the body’s endocrine system, influencing hormonal balance. This process occurs through several mechanisms, including the production of microbial metabolites, interaction with host cells, and modulation of immune and neural pathways.

This Webinar will examine how the gut microbiome is involved in thyroid health, examining hormone pathways and the links between gut and thyroid health.

Melatonin, a hormone primarily produced by the pineal gland, is best known for regulating sleep-wake cycles. Melatonin helps signal the body when it’s time to sleep, promoting restful sleep and regulating circadian rhythms.

Adequate levels of melatonin are crucial for improving sleep quality and duration. However, its influence extends beyond sleep, playing a vital role in gut health and immune function.
Emerging research suggests melatonin supports gut health by promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, enhancing the intestinal barrier and reducing inflammation.
This regulation may help manage gastrointestinal disorders and improve overall digestive function.

Melatonin also exhibits antioxidant properties and modulates immune responses. It helps enhance the production of immune cells and can reduce inflammation, contributing to a more robust immune system. This suggests that the rise of many intractable gut and inflammatory conditions may have a common denominator behind them in the form of melatonin imbalances.

What if endometriosis isn’t just about hormones but is a complex, systemic condition rooted in immune dysfunction, inflammation and environmental stressors?

This game-changing symposium will challenge outdated views and offer a powerful new perspective rooted in Systems Biology, Functional Medicine and personalised nutrition.

Join leading clinical experts as they unpack the fundamental drivers of endometriosis and reveal how integrative, root-cause strategies can help transform outcomes from pain management to hormonal balance and long-term healing.

Join BSEM for an eye-opening and practical training day focused on the home environment, one of the most overlooked yet powerful aspects of patient health. Explicitly designed for functional medicine doctors and allied healthcare professionals, this immersive event explores the hidden drivers of chronic illness, ranging from EMF radiation and mould exposure to household toxins, air and water quality, poor building materials, and more.

As more people work from home and spend increasing amounts of time indoors, the health of our living spaces has never been more critical. Our homes have become offices, classrooms, and healing spaces, yet many are filled with toxins contributing to fatigue, inflammation, and chronic symptoms.

Pure air, water, and energy are essential to human health. This training day will show you how to help your clients lighten their toxic body burden by identifying, reducing or eradicating environmental exposures in their homes.

You’ll leave with practical tools and clinical insights to assess environmental factors and empower your patients to create healthy homes.
