Many think yin yoga is the easy, the lazy yoga โ€“ until they try it.

Whilst yin yoga is simple in its nature, it is not easy.
It takes patience, tolerance and the willingness to sit with an element of mental and emotional discomfort, far different to the challenges from a yang practice. No muscle to activate, no action to refine โ€“ forms of distraction that can take us away from the noise of the mind, for those few short moments, until we move to the next asana.

In our yin practice, there is nowhere to hide or escape. We linger. We explore. We feel deeply. โ€˜Stuffโ€™ is allowed to come to the surface.

In a modern-day world, filled with all sorts of easy fixes to distract us, we have weakened our emotional muscle and as a result, sitting with ourselves has - for many - become too uncomfortable to bear.

Our yin practice is an opportunity to work through the mental and emotional obstacles, allowing us to navigate life and its inevitable challenges, with more grace and ease.

Comfort doesnt bring us health. It takes practice and willingness to surrender to 'just' being, facing the emotional obstacles that stand in the way of our ability to handle life on lifeโ€™s terms.

Buzzingly busy in my treatment space this week.
A common theme in the room โ€”
โ€œI feel like Iโ€™m in the void.โ€

Some named it exactly that.
Others described it differentlyโ€ฆ feeling suspended, between chapters, not quite who they were, not yet who they are becoming.

The in-between.

Yes, we are still in winter. The earth is quiet. The light is only just beginning to stretch itself back across the sky. But there is another layer too.
The void is not emptiness.
It is gestation.

It is the dark soil before the seed breaks open.
It is the pause where identity softens and something more honest can emerge.
Perhaps this is why so many are feeling it.

In my treatment room this week Iโ€™ve witnessed tenderness, uncertainty, courageโ€ฆ and the deep human longing to trust the process even when there is no clear map.

And just like this final Egypt prep is now in full swing.
Soon Iโ€™ll be holding space under bigger skies...
Sun, sea, desert silence.

The essence is the same. Whether in London or the Sinai, the work is about allowing what is dissolving to dissolveโ€ฆ and gently welcoming what wants to come forward.
