Achilles Tendons Injury has been prevalent since the return of sport a few weeks ago.
This can due to a number of factors including under training or even over training.
A common issue we have found is that a lot of amateur athletes took to running during the lockdown (as there wasn’t much else that was allowed). Where as this alone is unlikely to be a cause of injury, below are a list of factors that have come into play.
🏃🏿 Change from straight line running to multi directional sport.
👟 The difference of footwear, and the proportional extra demands on tendons when changing from a running shoe to a football boot.
📈📉 The change from a mid intensity endurance sport, to a high intensity dynamic sport.
🛋 Doing too much too much too soon after doing too little for too long.
🧩 Changes of surface, including grass to 4G will also place differing demands on a tendon.
Tendons dislike change.
