From the hospital wards… to homes, courtrooms, and care plans.
⠀
When I qualified as a nurse in 2012, I thought I’d stay on the wards forever. I loved the pace, the people, the problem-solving. I worked in Major Trauma, Brain Injury and Acute Medicine. I saw people on their hardest days – and sometimes their last.
⠀
But something always stayed with me.
⠀
It was the patients who left. Who went home with complex injuries, new disabilities, long rehab plans… and no clear support.
⠀
And the families. Exhausted. Confused. Trying to be carers, nurses, therapists – while holding down jobs and dealing with trauma themselves.
⠀
I became a Case Manager because I couldn’t stop thinking about them.
⠀
Now, I get to bring all of that experience and heart into my work. I coordinate rehabilitation. I advocate fiercely. I hold space for healing.
⠀
And every time a client reaches a milestone – whether it’s walking unaided, managing pain better, or even just going out for coffee again – I remember: this is what I was meant to do.
