🌾 Autumn & Vata Season 🍁

As the leaves fall and the air turns crisp, Ayurveda reminds us we’re moving into Vata season. A time ruled by air and space. Its qualities? Light, cool, dry, restless.

✨ This can leave us feeling: scattered, anxious, or depleted.
✨ The antidote: grounding, warmth, nourishment, and routine.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga Poses to Balance Vata
• Child’s Pose soothing and deeply grounding.
• Low Lunge warms the hips and steadies the body.
• Seated Forward Fold draws energy inward, calms the mind.
• Bridge Pose stabilises legs and spine, offering strength.
• Legs Up the Wall restorative, still, and balancing.

🍂 Autumn Wisdom

“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.”
Just as the trees release their leaves, we too can let go of what no longer serves, creating space for rest and renewal.
Maybe today lie down in child’s pose. Feel the earth beneath you. Embrace the earth. We are one.

✨ Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is… nothing. ✨
Restorative yoga is your nervous system’s reset button a soft place to let go, melt tension, and remember you don’t always have to *do* to feel whole. 💫
Give yourself the gift of deep rest. It’s the most delicious treat you’ll ever take.

✨ The deepest reset comes from the gentlest pause.
🌿 Rest is not a luxury, it’s medicine.
💫 Surrender is where the magic begins.
Be a human being. Not a human doing 🕊️

Yesterday I posted a cryptic story mentioning the trochanter. A few people were intrigued and asked for me to explain…Here I’ll try….
The trochanter is a bony protrusion on the outside of the thigh..think when you’re camping and you can’t get comfy on your side…🚶‍♀️ it’s the ‘bony’ bit at the top of the thigh bone. Go find it now by running your hand from the top outside the leg.,

What “trochanter walking” looks like
• Each stride begins with the hip joint gliding forward
Placing your hand on the top outside of your thigh to find yours.
• The glute + hamstring on the back leg push you forward, instead of the knee pulling you.
• The pelvis has a smooth, subtle roll not a sway, but a gentle side-to-side shift as weight transfers.
• The step length is more natural, and weight flows evenly into the heel and then through the foot.

Glutes are the main engines of walking. If they don’t fire, the knees and quads “take over,” which is less efficient and can cause knee/lumbar issues.
• Walking from the hip joint (greater trochanter cue) retrains your body to use the glutes, unload the quads, and soften the lumbar bracing.
• It restores that smooth, efficient gait we’re designed for, instead of a choppy, knee-driven walk.

👉 A little trick to feel the difference:
• Try walking across the room leading with your knees you’ll feel your quads grab and stride shorten.
• Then walk again, fingertips on greater trochanters, imagining them sliding forward with each step it feels steadier, smoother, almost like your legs are “underneath you” instead of out in front.
Don’t take my word for it. Give it a go and please go look at to learn more fabulous facts and movement for this amazing body.
Now, I’m off to find my stride. Let me know how you get on.

The Quiet Power of Yin Yoga

In a world that asks us to move faster, achieve more, and stay constantly switched on, it can feel radical to slow down. Yin yoga offers us that radical pause — an invitation to linger, soften, and listen deeply.

Unlike the more dynamic “yang” styles of yoga such as Vinyasa or Ashtanga, Yin yoga is a practice of stillness. Poses are held for several minutes, allowing gravity and time to gently open the body’s connective tissues: fascia, ligaments, and joints, rather than relying on muscular effort.

The Benefits of Yin Yoga
• Deep release: Long-held poses help hydrate and nourish fascia, improving mobility and flexibility.
• Nervous system reset: The stillness signals safety to the body, activating the parasympathetic nervous system and reducing stress.
• Mindfulness in action: With fewer postures and more space, Yin becomes a meditative journey. Thoughts settle, and awareness expands.
• Balance: Yin complements the active (yang) side of life, helping create harmony in body and mind.

What to Expect in a Yin Class

An Invitation to a new Yin class .creative.wellbeing every Thursday 6.30pm.

Yin yoga reminds us that slowing down is not laziness, but wisdom. When we release the urge to rush, we discover a quieter strength one that comes from patience, acceptance, and simply being.

Step into a sanctuary of deep rest and renewal. In this restorative yoga class, we’ll use bolsters, blankets, and gentle breathwork to melt away stress, ease tension, and bring the body into a state of profound relaxation. Each pose is fully supported, allowing you to soften, unwind, and reset—perfect for those seeking calm in a busy world.

No experience needed, just bring yourself and a willingness to slow down. Give yourself the gift of stillness. 🙏 Please join me Sunday 23rd 4-6pm 🧘🏼‍♀️
