This coming 10th October 2018, Our Charities : Carry My Cross & Mercy For Life Foundation will be commissioning our Mental HealthCare Centre at Number 198 OYEMEKUN ROAD AKURE,ONDO STATE . it will be the First largest source of scientific research on Mental Health prevention also reliable centre for support for the Mentally Challenged and Their Children.
In 2014, we spurred and financed the Neuro-psychiatric Specialist Hospital, Ondo state to commemorate world mental health day in order to create the awareness of the menace of mental illness, abandonment of the mentally challenged and stigmatisation,this was highly attended by mental health families, stake holders and government representatives
In expanding the scope of our campaign, on the 9th of October,2015,we openly raised the awareness of the unacceptable and degrading treatment of the mentally ill in Nigeria. So also, on the 10th October, 2015, we organized a workshop, symposium and presentation to commemorate world mental health day at National Merit Award House, Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja which was attended by all stake holders.
In 2016, our non-governmental organization, “Mercy for Life Foundation ” celebrated the 2016 world Mental health Day in a big way by making a handsome donation to the Psychiatric Specialist Hospital in Akure on the 10th of October, a day globally set aside to mark the world mental health day. Among the items donated by the two sister NGO are a Table tennis, a 48 inches Television set and various items of food stuffs for the consumption of inmates of the Psychiatric Specialist Hospital, Akure, Ondo State.
In 2017, we organized and sponsored the celebration of world mental Health Day celebration, where we, donated mattresses, television to the people living with mental disorder at the Ondo State Neuro Psychiatric Hospital Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
The donation is part of the activities of the foundation to mark the 2017 edition of the World Mental Health Day.
At the workshop, a lecture delivered by a consultant at the Psychiatrist Specialist Hospital, Osogbo, Osun State Dr, Ola Ibigbami, spoke extensively on the theme of this celebration entitled: “mental health in the workplace” Which was attended by the Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro,
The highlight of the event was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, students from health institutions across the state as well as staffers of the hospital.
As part the celebration, similar donations also held at Uzelu Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Uzelu, Benin City, Edo State where Çarry My Cross donated substantial amount of money directly to the mentally challenged people and their children.
