What an amazing trip to the Japanese countryside. I had no idea this existed! So unspoilt and breathtakingly beautiful. Totally switched off from my London life 😄

What is your ‘secret’ holiday spot ? 😍

I’m so in love with downward dog splits at the moment. Weaving them in all the time with the suns and B series. Now that I am working long hours at the desk again, it really helps my hanstrings to warm up properly and stay supple!

Really happy to be subbing a class Next Saturday 9.30-11am!!
We will definitely be doing downdog splits .. and much much more !! Come and join us ❤️

‘The pose begins when you want to come out of the pose’

One of my Forrestyoga teachers, Erica Mather, once said this in her class. I had to think of it all through my practice this morning 😁 i had initially wanted to go for a parkrun but my body said: no! So I changed my mind in favour of a long yummy yoga home practice ! wishing you all a fab day of doing something that delights your spirit today to start 2019 ❤️

I’ve only been back at work again for two months but have started to feel it already ! 😢 One thing I noticed immediately was how much wearing high heels impacted on my calves (sooo tight) and my lower back. The longer hours sitting arent helping that either. So I’m trying to dig into what I learned over the past couple of years on my yoga journey and help my body recover more qu**ky: lots of abs like elbow to knee to support the lower back, taking it easier on abckbends and focussing more on mini backbends that strengthen rather than bending as much as possible, and twists that feel sooo good after a long day at the desk. And finally chest opener and archer for the shoulders. I also love seated sidebend in shoelace at the moment.
And during this mini break to Hamburg I will take it easy 😊

Forrestyoga doesnt just strengthen the abs, it teaches how to connect deeply into belly and pelvis. Since I learned how to expand the breath into the hidden areas of my core, my period pain is gone !

The journey continues...
I used to be obsessed with inversions and getting better at forarmbalance, handstand etc but didn’t have a major breakthrough and got quite frustrated with it. So I stopped doing them for a while. Not having practiced any inversions in my yoga recently, I expected it to be awful being back at it today. But it was actually pretty good and a lot of fun too.
I’ve noticed something similar before: that I wasnt advancing at something by going for it every day and obsessing over it but as soon as I eased off a bit I actually made some progress! There’s a lesson here I reckon, friends 😉

‘Every time you confront something painful, you are at a potentially important juncture in your life—you have the opportunity to choose healthy and painful truth or unhealthy but comfortable delusion.’ (~ Ray Dalio, Principles)

As I am transitioning from the yoga world back to the finance world I am currently immersing myself in ‘s book ‘principles’. Yoga (meditation, mindfulness etc) has really changed my life in the past couple of years and it is my wish to take as much of the techniques and lessons learnt with me back into the world of finance. Ray - who is the founder of the biggest and most successful hedge fund in the world- is a strong believer in truthtelling, finding your purpose, making meaningful connections and being very frank with oneself to achieve maximum potential. It sounds a lot like Ana Forrest’s teachings (evolve or die’) and draws a path for me for how to take the most possible of my last chapter with me into the next. 🙏🏻💕

My current favourite way to practice ; inspired by => turn hands around so the fingertips point back towards you and gently start pressing fingers and then palms into floor (or grass in this instance 😊) to give wrists and inner arms a delicious stretch 😋

I’ve recently experienced a bit of pain on the outside of my hips after running. Whilst this might have a few origins, on a physical level I feel that making space and gently stretching the upper thigh area - which is often quite stiff for me - has really helped. is a great pose to get into the region whilst at the same time being able to let go and let gravity help with the stretch.

Being in nature has always relaxed me. A walk in the forest or a day on a quiet beach. Grateful to have had a few super relaxing days in the south of Sweden, a beautiful place with a lot of nature and quiet, white sandy beaches and crystal clear sea. If you havent been it should definitely be on your list ❤️
