Receiving feedback for the care and expertise you offer in your work is both exposing and rewarding. In the field of women's health, empathy, compassion, and a high level of clinical experience are necessary. It's what drives me to offer the very best care for women.

Reviews like this make me feel like I'm doing what I set out to do 🤞

This is the review 👇

I recently had the privilege of working with Edel McCann, Specialist MSK & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, and I can't speak highly enough of the care I received. From the moment I stepped into the appointment, I felt truly heard and understood. She took the time to carefully listen to my concerns and then thoroughly explained what was happening with my health and why. The level of empathy and expertise was truly remarkable.

What stood out the most was how Edel went above and beyond to support me. Not only did she empower me with knowledge and understanding, but she also worked directly with my GP, ensuring that I was on the right path to recovery. By communicating with my GP and providing clear guidance, she helped bridge the gap in my care and set me up for long-term health and happiness.

I left feeling confident, supported, and informed – something I hadn't felt in a long time. I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding care and would highly recommend to anyone seeking compassionate, knowledgeable, and thorough pelvic health care.

You were one of the most beautiful chapters of my life 💔.. last day in Edinburgh for our wee family as it is.

I've been stringing out this leaving thing for as long as I can.. but the final day is here.

Now it's time to unfold new pages and start a new chapter... 😭

It's not goodbye.. it's see you later🫡

And she continued..

Do you like my new name? Physio Woman® 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Physio Woman® UK 🇬🇧 as i move forward, will have the health education of women and girls at the forefront.

Physio Mummy, albeit no longer (Edinburgh), will very much remain part of my plan going forward. But as time has gone on, the name didn't align with what I offered.

I have assessed and treated women who have had babies, who lost babies, who never had a baby, who are 90 years old and have prolapse, who are going through the menopause, who are suffering from issues affecting their pelvic floor, who have had breast cancer of any other form or cancer, who have been recovering from abdominal surgery, who have hurt their ankle doing an ultra marathon, who are suffering from endometrosis, who have hurt their back lifting their kids and treated women and girls suffering from issues with sexual intercourse...I could be here all day...

I want the name to align with my values, my beliefs and what mark I want to leave in this world.. and that mark is clinically to be the best Physio I can be and from an impact perspective to ensure that information, education and resources on all aspects of womens health are accessible to all women and girls, that women and girls know what to do to help themselves, to empower women and girls to speak up when there are not be cared for in the manner they deserve. Knowledge is power. My education has been the thing that has changed my life, and I know the power of it..

If you educate a woman, you educate a family (nation), if you educate a girl, you educate the future... 💫

I believe Womens health education and physiotherapy should be available to every woman and girl.. but while we wait for that to be a reality 🥴🤯.. I can do what I can do and educate women, use what I know, use my voice, and try and impact as many women as I can. The tricky bit is now... but the way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing..

So I'll begin 🤓... my break when we move is an active break..🙃 lol..

Help me? I'm a big believer in...If you don't ask for it, you don't get it. So I'm now asking 😅😉

🙏🙏🙏Are you or have you been a client of mine? Would u recommend 🤔 me?

👇A lovely card I got today. Some of my clients I've seen for 10+ years since I moved to Edinburgh. Every day at work at the minute, I cry at least once. 😢 I've met the most wonderful people through my work.

I've never asked for testimonials or reviews. If someone gave me a card or sent me a nice message or email, I asked at times if I could I share it anonymously. Recently, I've realised that it was probably wise that I build up evidence of proof of my work, lol 😆

My business in Edinburgh has been built through word of mouth. I'm self-employed, and I need the ladies in Dorset and beyond to know I'm a good choice when I move south 😅.

I need your help, as im starting again, and the fear is real. So if I've helped you in any way, can you please write me a Google or Facebook review.. .

I'd will be forever grateful. Thank you in advance for helping me out!

My BIG NEWS.. 😭😭😭..I'm LEAVING EDINBURGH in April, my family and I are relocating to Dorset, in the South of England as my husband is taking up a job there. The past few weeks have ripped me to pieces 💔 and the decision has been one of the hardest decisons we have had to make.

I have been in Edinburgh for over 10 years. It's been the most wonderful place to live and work. The people have been so welcoming to this wee Derry Girl, and the warmth I've been given, and opportunities I have had here have been unbelievable. I'm so proud my boys have been born here, and they will always be little Scottish boys.

I want to thank each and every person who has used my services and recommended me to a friends/family or clients. My work here has been through word or mouth, and for me personally, that has been everything 🥰. You have no idea how much that has helped me build my business, and I'm forever grateful. The fear of starting again is nerve-racking.

I will continue to treat my current caseload of patients and ensure anyone who is on that has completed their programmes and made the improvement desired. So please don't worry if that's you, and if anyone who I've already seen reads this and needs to reach out, please do, and I can advise of the next steps 😉. You will not be left without support 🙏 I'll ensure your good. You won't be discharged till your where u need to be.

I won't be taking on any NEW patients at Physis Physio at this time. However I do have available slots at Gleneagles Townhouse on Thursdays if your a member and I can do work online via Zoom, so if you need help, please reach out if this is something you interested in. 😊

Longer term, I am hoping to keep my foot in Edinburgh a little and hope to continue to work for Gleneagles Townhouse a few days per month, I just need to work out what the future of my business will look like but for now I've a list of recommendations for ongoing support in Edinburgh and I'll share this ASAP. I'm leaving women's health services in Edinburgh better than I found them. So that could only ever be a good thing.

I need to just have faith in what is yet to come 🙏

M e n o p a u s e

I was invited to be part of a panel discussing Menopause this morning at Gleneagles Townhouse. For my part, I was specifically talking about how Women's Health Physiotherapy can help with Menopause? It was such a wonderful experience to be part of this conversation. I love talking about womens health issues and i love hearing other peoples stories and insights .

I feel so passionate about encouraging women to take back their power 🔥 and take better care of their bodies. To know their bodies and to get the very best they can from their bodies under any circumstance. We need more of these OPEN and STRONG conversations.

I also got to meet and hear from about her book , The Shift. The first page of the book is dedicated to "EVERYONE WHO'S HAD IT WITH PUTTING UP AND SHUTTING UP". I don't know bout you, but I've had it with women putting up with the s**t we put up with, and I won't shut up about it!🫡 Too many women suffer horrendously in silence, accepting things as normal or embarrassed to seek help or support. We set the bar low for ourselves, and we deserve so much better.

Hormonal changes during perimenopause/menopause and post menopause can lead to issues that result in weakening of your pelvic floor muscles, incontinence, prolapse and vaginal dryness. This disruption can also exacerbate or cause a variety of medical conditions and Physio can help.

Womens health Physios treat the 3P's -
✔️prolapse
✔️poo
✔️pee.
🍆We also can help with sexual health.

As a specialist in both MSK -Musculoskeletal injury and women' health. I am a double aged sword. As I can also advise around musculoskeletal dysfunction . We know menopause is associated with increased risk of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and Sarcopenia (age related muscle wasting). We also know that joint aches and stiffess are the most reported MSK symptom with 18% of UK perimenopausal women report unexpected aches in their joints.

We can do lots to be proactively helping ourselves, and I'll share more of what this is from a physio perspective later 😉.I encourage you to take control, to take back your power. ❤️

Postnatal Care of mothers:

1 in 8 mothers are highly critical of their postnatal care.[Source: NICE]

For most women, childbirth is a positive and fulfilling experience. However, for some women, pregnancy and childbirth are associated with suffering and ill health.

For women who experience physical or mental trauma, their pregnancy and birthing experience can have a profound negative effect on their postnatal physical and mental well-being.

For women, their partners, and their babies, birth is a major life event that means considerable emotional and physical adjustment. It applies to all births but is perhaps most marked for those having their 1st child.

It is a period of transition for a woman’s body, mind, and family. Appropriate care during this recovery time is essential for a mother to return to a state of health and wellbeing.

Poor postnatal care risks missing an opportunity to have a profoundly beneficial effect on the lives of the mothers, babies and their families, now and in the future.

Care during the postnatal period should be given equal credence as antenatal and intrapartum care so as to greatly improve the quality of health for the mother, her baby, and her family.

This is my mission in life .Better postnatal care of mothers. We need it, we deserve it, the current status quo isn't good enough we MUST do better. No mother to be left behind✌️. I want to make a difference 🤓 and I know I can. 🤗

👉👉👉👉👉👉If you agree give me a ❤️😉

Caesarean is the only surgery where seven layers of tissue are opened and the mother is expected to stand up six hours later, taking responsibility for one more person, not to mention the intense uterus contractions, product of the Stimulation of mammary glands, release of oxytocin... etc.

If you're a mother via cesarean, you're stronger than you think. Be proud of yourself. 💕
