Residents from Anastasia Lodge had a wonderful New Year outing with a visit to St Demetrios Church this month.

Everyone enjoyed a New Year’s lunch hosted by the church, and time spent inside for prayers and candle lighting.

It was a warm and uplifting outing, bringing together faith, good food and even some dancing!

We started the day with an early morning exercise session, giving residents a gentle and positive start to the day 💪

The session included time on a seated cycle, resistance exercises using a hoop, with residents and staff working together to gently push and pull, and the use of a vibration plate, where residents could sit comfortably while their feet were stimulated.

Even light, seated exercise plays an important role in supporting strength, mobility, circulation and overall wellbeing. These comfortable, accessible sessions help residents stay active in a way that feels safe, enjoyable and supportive

The music was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and created a lovely atmosphere, a wonderful way to welcome the year together.

Staff wrote numbers on paper plates, and residents took turns throwing hacky sacks onto the plates to score points. There were lots of laughs as everyone added up their scores and cheered each other on.

It was a great activity for practising numbers, hand-eye coordination and gentle movement, all while having fun together!

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful day out at St Demetrios Church to celebrate the New Year. The church hosted a fabulous New Year’s lunch, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We also spent time in the church saying prayers and lighting candles, creating a calm and meaningful moment for reflection.

It was a lovely day filled with faith, good food and community spirit, a very special way to welcome the New Year!

Our residents had great fun enjoying a lively game of bingo 🎉

Some residents focused on marking off their bingo cards, a great activity for supporting concentration, memory and mental stimulation. Others enjoyed taking turns spinning the bingo ball, pulling out the numbers and reading them aloud, which encouraged confidence and participation.

This hands-on session was a wonderful sensory activity, allowing residents to enjoy the colours, textures and fragrances of the flowers while getting creative. It was a calming, uplifting activity that encouraged focus, conversation and a real sense of accomplishment.

We were delighted to welcome guests to our first Memory Club session of the year, and it was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.

We enjoyed cutting Vasilopita, with Vassos winning the gold coin 🪙, followed by painting 2026 portraits and finishing the session with a fun game of bingo.
