A ‘typical’neurodivergent family - can you relate?

One kid melting down over a banana. One kid on the floor lost in a book. One kid in three rooms in five minutes with one sock on. Dad deep in a packed lunch. And mum tired and wired from four hours’ sleep, still replaying yesterday somehow still managing to getevery single one of them out the door.

Your family isn’t broken. The system that was supposed to help you was just built for a different kind of brain.

The behaviour isn’t bad. It’s information. And once you can read it, everything changes. 🧠

I really feel for neurodivergent families.

Because it’s rarely just one thing.

It’s not just neurodivergence, it’s also often complex health issues layered together: eczema, gut symptoms, frequent illness, anxiety, fatigue. This is alongside school demands, family dynamics, work, and trying to keep everyone regulated enough to get through the day.

From the outside, other families can look effortless.
Children eating sweets at 10am and staying calm.
No battles over socks, labels, or shoes.
No constant wondering if you’re doing something wrong.

If this feels familiar, you’re not failing.
You may just be carrying more than most!

These are patterns I keep noticing.
Questions worth paying attention to especially when health, nervous systems and family life overlap.
