I haven't posted in a while, as I've been quite busy with work and family.

I did an emergency appointment for a patient today. A hearing aid dome stuck in the patient's ear canal. The patient thought it was a build up of wax, and everytime the patient had her hearing aid in, she was unable to hear. Not sure how long this had been in the ear, but there was a build up of wax behind the dome.
It's important to get your ears checked regularly, especially if you wear hearing aids.🦻

Deaf Awareness Week runs from 6–12 May and aims to highlight the challenges faced by people who are deaf or have a hearing loss (Approximately 11 million people in the UK are deaf or have hearing loss. Deafness and hearing loss can have a range of challenging implications, especially when it comes to communication. And communicating with others makes up much of what we do as individuals.)

Symptoms of blocked ears:

• Loss or muffled hearing
• Itchy or uncomfortable ears
• A sense of fullness in the ears (like being under water)
• Dizzy spells or Loss of balance
• Tinnitus (Ringing or buzzing in the ears)
• Water being trapped after a bath, Shower or Swimming.
