Tired at night but can’t switch off? Try this! 🔥

You think you can’t switch off because you’ve got too much on your mind….

But this isn’t the real root cause.

A nervous system stuck in fight or flight (aka. Survival mode) will never allow the body to rest and recover.

Why? Because it thinks it needs to stay alert due to a present threat.

Yes… even if you are lying down on your sofa.

This is why down-regulation practices for anyone living a fast paced modern life is essential.

3 things that feel like rest but are actually keeping you alert 🫩😮‍💨

Here’s what to do instead…

1. Take time everyday in total silence. Even 5 minutes.

2. Take time to do nothing. Yes… nothing. Lie down, even for 5 minutes, close your eyes and let yourself truly rest.

3. Spend time in with people that leave you feeling happier, lighter and calmer rather than always resting alone. This is a secret for regulating rapidly.

You don’t become resilient by avoiding stress.
You become resilient by training for it.

Your nervous system needs acute exposure - not constant protection.

Short, controlled bursts of stress
→ build capacity
→ sharpen focus
→ increase emotional control
→ and raise your baseline for what you can handle

This is how high performers stay calm under pressure.

Cold exposure.
Breathwork.
Intense training.
Difficult conversations.

Not because they’re extreme…But because they’re intentional.

Most people are overwhelmed by stress because they’ve never trained their system to handle it.

What’s actually in your tap water 🧪

Treated doesn’t mean clean. Here’s what studies consistently find in tap water:

☠️ Chlorine & Chloramines - disinfectants that form trihalomethanes (THMs), classified as possible carcinogens by the WHO

☠️ Lead - leaches from aging pipes; even low levels impair cognitive function and cardiovascular health

☠️ PFAS (“Forever Chemicals”) - found in most tap water (USGS, 2023); linked to hormone disruption, immune suppression and increased cancer risk

☠️ Microplastics - detected globally in tap water; linked to inflammation and endocrine disruption

☠️ Nitrates - from agricultural runoff; associated with thyroid dysfunction and colorectal cancer

So what do you do instead? ✅

1. Filter your water - use a high-quality reverse osmosis or Berkey filter at home. These remove the majority of contaminants including PFAS, heavy metals and nitrates

2. Remineralise - filtered water strips minerals too, so add a pinch of quality sea salt or electrolyte drops to restore what your body actually needs

3. Store smart - ditch plastic bottles. Use glass or stainless steel to avoid leaching microplastics and BPAs

4. Take it a step further and test your water - use an at-home water testing kit to know exactly what you’re dealing with in your area

Your body works hard enough. Don’t make it fight your water too. 💧
