It is coming to the time of year when many people are beginning to feel tired and worn-out. With Christmas deadlines looming, pressure at work can build up, and we long for a break. Whilst some tiredness is natural, if you are feeling utterly exhausted and unenthusiastic, and feeling quite differently towards your job than you used to; perhaps you dread waking up on workdays or hate your job, whereas you used to enjoy it. then it is possible you are suffering with burn-out.
Burn-out is classified as an occupational phenomenon, not a medical condition. It occurs when someone has continually over-worked or been stressed for a protracted period of time.
The three main symptoms are:
1. Feeling depleted or exhausted
2. Having an increased sense of mental distance from your job, or feelings of negativity or cynicism to your work
3. Reduced professional efficacy. You may find it difficult to focus or come up with your normal level of ideas or enthusiasm.
