Glad to upgrade to fibre today.

Not just for the faster speeds but because they needed to drill in the Northeast of my home.

On February 3rd the feng shui energy will change and drilling there is bad news for health, in any building for the whole of 2025 (and January 2026).

The past year it has been the West that needed to be kept quiet and inactive. Still for the rest of this month it has a double dose of ill health so lay off doing any work there (or even sleeping there).

Get moving with anything that needs sorting in the Northeast before 3rd February and then you can move back to the West and happily renovate that area after that date!

I’m Spring cleaning this weekend. Concentrating on fixing and decluttering before the energy shifts! Feels great to get to that old dust behind the cabinets and fix those boggling things that you keep meaning to get to.

If you’d like to find out how the shift is going to impact your home or business get in touch for a quote on a full feng shui consultation.

Goodbye to the old, make way for the new

I'm reading an article on HuffPost about resilience and child mental health. It got me thinking about a blog I wrote at the beginnig of lockdown. Both my blog and the HuffPost article lean towards the fact that it is the adults and caregivers who are the role models for children, and indirectly teach them resilience.

This can be tough for those children growing up without those adults. For many children you learn resilience through a lot of trial and error growing up, when it wasn't model to you.

Secure attachments, emotional regulation, looking after your own wellbeing, managing stress, encouraging children to find solutions are the advice from the article and my focus in my work with neurodivergent children and young adults.

This is a reminder for all the adults to ensure they are getting support and caring for themselves, as often sacrifice is seen as a parenting virtue. It's not! Kids learn by actions more than words.

I go in to more detail in my blog from 2020 here

Focus on ways you got through tough times in the past and acknowledge your capacities I’m writing this in the midst of the Corona virus pandemic and a lockdown of 5 weeks in the UK (but whose counting)?. Some days I’m enjoying the peace and quiet of the city and listening to the birds of Spring....

It's 30c in London today. Don't avoid the sun though. Get out early and late avoiding the midday. No sunglasses or suncream! Just cover up 11am-3pm. Full spectrum sunlight is essential to our circadian rhythms, eye health, vitamin D levels and more. It's actually too much indoor light and blue light from screens that is harmful to our health.

The best way to get your Vitamin D levels up is skin exposure to the sun, but not so you burn. A hat is better than sunglasses as these actually block the messages your eyes and skin need to tell you how hot it is outside. Sunglasses and suncream will make you more likely to burn and this is what can lead to damaged skin cells.

Early morning light sets up you whole system for the day, it will ensure your metabolism is efficient, that's why weight management works best if you eat during daylight hours and not after dark!

Even if it's not sunny outside it is better than staying inside all day. Late sun is actually very healing for the skin too. The sun is your friend, sunburn is not!

Get outside and enjoy the sun. Vitamin D is essential for the immune system and helps create healthy bones.

Although this is a worrying trend for parents, it is not a fait accompli, so lets look at ways forward. I used to sell mobile phones in the 90s and nobody wanted them! We can't go back to those times, and let's acknowledge that smartphones can be of benefit. In this article they highlight 4 areas that are impacting children and young people the most:

1.social deprivation,
2.sleep deprivation
3.attention fragmentation
4.addiction

Generally we as parents can put off buying a smartphone for our children. Once they are about 14 though, I'd say they are becoming autonomous, so hard rules don't necessarily apply, or work. However, it does make sense to have boundaries, limits and schools do need to step up.

We are, of course, the role models and therefore it is imperative to show, not tell, children how to behave.

Are you able to leave your phone unattended? We don't have phones at the dinner table or look at them when talking to each other (or guests).

When you're out of the home, or engaging in any other activity, are you spending the time on that one pusuit, mindfully. Or are you multi tasking?

When your child is engaged in a task are you interacting with them or distracted by social media or other phone tasks like emails?

We teach our children how to enage with others by how we engage with them. It is very easy to let a teen withdraw and rather than deal with our feelings of rejection, to slip into teen behaviour too.

Do you have a bedtime? Do you turn the WIFI off and wear blue light blocking glassess? Maybe now is the time to draw some boundaries for yourself so your children see how it works.

It is so easy to get distracted. My daughter and I both have all our notifications diabled. We realised how stressful it was getting pings constantly. Chose when to check your phone rather than letting it rule you.

I choose to meditate, drink tea, write and exercise in the morning before going on my phone. I also get morning daylight before the blue light kicks in and have found my sleep much improved.

Where else can you and your child get their dopamine and serotonin fix? Exercise, nature, Omega 3 from fish oils, meditation, sunlight, essential oils, goal setting and achievement, trying something new, a hug and certainly a face to face chat will all give you a boost. Encourage these for your children and add them in for yourself.

We can create something different than an internet obsessed, mentally unwell society. It will take focus, willpower, discipline and modelling. No generation is a right off so let's put more effort in to other activities and rely less on our phones. We've done it before and we can do it again. Remember what pursuits you enjoyed before you had a smartphone. Rather than focus on taking the phone away from your child add in other activities so they have to take a break from it. And if it really is ruining their health it's ok to take it away for a time out. It's a tool. Use it. don't let it use you.

Therapy is helpful in healing addictions and it works face to face or remotely. If you are concerned about your child and would like to talk please message me or another professional.

A mental health emergency is hitting young people around the world, according to a new book. Helen Coffey asks whether smartphones, social media and tech are really responsible – and how the damage can be undone

The menopause-big scary changes?!

Being 48 and a half I’m perimenopausal. It’s a thing! We talk a lot about menopause and in generally blanket negative terms. Hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, sagging skin, low libido, hair loss, weight gain….Argh!!!!

You get the drift. It’s bad and wrong and must be either fought against or succumbed to. We are old, invisible, grey haired and wrinkly.

Maybe we are embracing our inner crone, wise woman, Baba Yaga. Or maybe we wish to return to our youth through Botox, fillers, punishing exercise regimes and high heels.

What cruelty has life thrown at women in their mid life? After years of sacrificing themselves as the good girl, the virgin bride and the w***e in the bedroom, the mother martyr, the punchbag, the cleaner, cook, carer. The everything to everyone and the nothing left for ourselves archetype.

When can we catch a break? When is it our time? Is death the only respite?!

Some may well choose illness as a way to get a break. Autoimmune disease is much higher in woman. Our body starts forcing us to take notice. Louder and louder. We listen or die.

So all rather bleak. Is there another way? Can we choose something greater or are we destined for a life controlled by patriarchy, capitalism, hormones, family obligations, bills and all the other demands placed on us?

What if we have chosen all of it so far? What if we can choose something different now?

Are you willing to give up people pleasing, martyrdom, putting yourself last, feeding the beasts of our modern world and staying caught in a trap?

Are you willing to step outside the box that’s been created for you? What creative projects have you put on the back burner? What were your childhood dreams? Where can you reach out to for support? What would putting yourself at the top of the list look like?

20 minutes a day for a walk or meditation, one hour for a bath with essential oil, a massage a month, a swim, a journal, nourishing food…the list goes on.

Rather than resenting those not considering you or putting you first how about you model that to the world. How about you choose you?

This doesn’t mean choosing against others. Your burnout helps noone. Your resentment isn’t kind. You resourced, happy and healthy creating greater in the world changes everything for the better!

Yes you have that much power. Yes you’ve been using it for everyone else. Stop doing more and waiting for gratitude and start being grateful for free will.

We can all focus on lack and what we don’t have. Start off where you’re at and what you would like to create more of and build on that.

I started off talking about perimenopause as to me the transitions are usually the hard stuff in life-moving home, new school, divorce, death of a loved one, puberty, pregnancy and yes menopause.

Yet once you’re in menopause a lot of the symptoms can stop. It’s the projections of society telling us who we are now we are middle age that can affect us if we allow them.

Chronic pain, hair and vision loss, weight gain etc are all manageable and often curable without surgery or medication. Those are options to you. Just like putting castor oil on thinning hair is an option that works for many. Just like intermittent fasting allows many people to lose weight around the belly. There are so many options for you in the next half of your life.

What will you choose?

If you’d like to choose vibrant health, more balanced emotions, trauma release through meditation and visualisation, goal setting, lifestyle advice and ongoing support get in touch. I’d be happy to help.

How we start and finish the day are an important factor in controlling our life. Often we try and control externals but we really have control of our internals.

What are you doing for your internals (those will be mind, body, soul btw)?

I make sure to not look at my phone first thing on waking. Not only does it drag you into an external world before you’ve set your internal space but the blue light disrupts your circadian rhythms too.

I like to get daylight first thing (and if like me you don’t have a garden and work from home stick your head out of the window for a few minutes)!

Next it’s tea and morning pages, followed by some Block Therapy, stretches and meditation.

I’m still working on my nighttime routine and getting some severe insomnia under control. I’ve got the blue light blocking glasses and all the other paraphernalia but really this is about winding down from the day.

Netflix isn’t going to cut it if you’re watching an action movie and your nervous system has gone into overdrive.

I was prescribed comedy by the TCM doctor. Plus stop eating a good few hours before bed, drink less and consider some supplements like magnesium, tryptophan and GABA. Trudy Scott Antianxiety Food Solution is a fab place to go for more on these.

The more out of control you’re feeling right now the more important it is to go within.

Turn the news off
Up your self care
Take charge of your internal state
Create the life you choose

Could totally tell the new Google building had been feng shui’d when I saw it was a dragon. Just realised it’s also obviously been timed to complete in the year of the dragon too 🐉

Big businesses usually make use of feng shui, whether Eastern or Western.

As a feng shui consultant walking around Central London I enjoy noticing the various designs and how they are tapping in to the ancient metaphysical techniques of feng shui.

If you’d like to capture the energy of todays monumental 20 year Feng Shui shift get your compass out and find North East.

Between 4.29pm and 11.59pm sit with your back to the NE.

Imagine your dream life, what it feels like, walk through each area of your life like you are in it now. Money, career, relationships, health, home etc.

Where are you?
What activities are you doing?
Who are you with?
How much money?
What kind of house/car?
What does your body look and feel like?

Once you come out of the visualisation take one small action.

It could be signing up for a course. Booking a holiday. Calling a friend to make a plan to go and have some fun. Posting on your business socials. Reading a personal development book or listening to a motivational podcast. Drawing, writing, dancing.

What energy would you like to create, generate and actualise for the coming years ahead?!

Go for it!
