Exciting news! We have been awarded a new contract in Brighton & Hove, and we can’t wait to work closely with the local community.

Together with Brighton & Hove City Council, we will be supporting 14 people with learning disabilities in three shared homes, creating welcoming places where each person gets personalised support to live life on their own terms.

From 3 February 2026, the amazing teams currently providing support will join our Certitude community.

Live locally and want to find out more about us? Join us at our forthcoming drop-in day:

📅 Wednesday 21 January
🕚 11am – 3pm
📍 Friends Meeting House (Lecture Room), Ship Street, Brighton BN1 1AF

Lisa enjoys getting involved and being part of the community. Whether it’s art group, digging at the community allotment, or going for a wander with the walking group, she loves it all and values how Certitude’s support has enhanced her quality of life

“Since I’ve been supported by Certitude, I’ve been able to do a lot of things that I couldn’t do before… being out and about in my community makes me feel motivated and happy. I do most things myself and enjoy painting, doing arts and crafts like card making.”

Community inclusion is an important part of our approach to Supported Living, empowering people to have meaningful relationships and feel a part of the neighbourhoods they live in.

We pride ourselves in encouraging the people we support to pursue their passion or hobbies. In the past we have supported people to do a tandem bike ride, have a friendly kickabout in a Bi-weekly football group to growing their own fruit and veg at our community allotment project.

This couldn’t be done without the support from everyone who fundraises and donates to our many projects. We want 2026 to be a year of personal growth and give more opportunities for everyone to follow their passions!

Meet Christine, one of our runners.

We asked her why she chose to run in aid of Certitude:

“I’m a support worker for adults of learning disabilities. I understand how stretched the funding is and I've always wanted to run the marathon”

Every penny raised from the runners goes directly to helping support people to develop their passions and interests in one of our community projects.

Some excellent insights from Certitude’s Chief Executive, Aisling Duffy, and Olaide Akintola, one of our Ealing colleagues, both talking about their suggestions to the Casey Commission at a Social Care Future national gathering this year.

The launch of the film and accompanying report ‘Growing a brighter future together’ continue to ensure that the voices of people who draw on support are central to shaping the future of adult social care.

As Vicky says at the start of the film ‘Stop calling us service users, we’re humans at the end of the day’.

We couldn’t agree more. As Aisling mentions in the film, we believe it’s important to be “working alongside people, communities and local voluntary sector organisations to drive change locally”.

Earlier this year we welcomed the Casey Commission team to showcase some of our co-produced community programmes and share how we support people to live fulfilling lives in their communities.

Please take a moment to watch and share the film and follow the conversation.

We believe the best support is shaped by the people who experience it. Kirsty belongs to The Voices Group, part of the Hounslow Quality Partnership which gives people and their families a regular opportunity to talk about what matters and make decisions together.

“I like that people have listened to what I’ve said. It means we talk about the decisions that are being made together.” Kirsty, Hounslow Voices member who is supported by Certitude.

If you’re a family member of somebody we support and you’re interested in joining one of our local quality partnerships, please talk to your local Certitude manager.
