Yogi Burr Posts on how to achieve a little zen time in as little as 5-15 minutes in your day..Become a Zen Jen OR Ken! Also offering Yoga classes via Skype & SE16.

I completed by 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga London (Yoga Alliance Member), qualifying in January 2016. Although I trained in the Vinyasa school my passion is to teach restorative classes that focus on letting go, slowing down and tuning into you.I incorporate Yoga Nidra into my classes as I have found it to be wonder tool in providing rest to the body and mind when sleep isn't always there for you and my aim is for you to take this tool away for you to use as your secret weapon, whenever needed. Most recently I completed 'Mum & Baby' postnatal training with renowned pregnancy and postnatal teacher Nadia Narain in February 2017 and classes will commence in November (Surrey Quays Shopping Centre and The Lodge, Lower Road, SE16). I incorporate baby massage, reflexology and guided relaxation into the classes to assist with common ailments (gas, constipation, lack of sleep). Hope you can join me and Max in a future class!

Help with Hangovers....

Prevention is better than cure, and this is where milk thistle comes in. Milk thistle is recognised as an excellent remedy for liver complaints and prevents damage from toxins such as alcohol when taken prior to drinking.

If you have overindulged without planning ahead, don't panic (and let's face it, we do, don't we), we have plenty of natural remedies that will help ease your symptoms and soothe the anxiety. Here are our favourites to help get you on your feet (and back into work) again.

Milk Thistle has been used for centuries and is now a highly regarded treatment for liver protection, detoxifying and promoting digestive health.

Magnesium works wonders for your brain pain by releasing pain-reducing hormones and reducing pressure on blood vessels.

Herbal teas tackle dehydration and offer additional benefits - calming Chamomile will ease 'the fear' and Ginger is key to settling the stomach.

Aromatherapy essential oils can be wonderfully soothing in your hour of need. Lavender oil induces feelings of calm and Rosemary will bring clarity.

The easiest way to prevent a hangover is to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and avoid toxic temptations.

Another super article from Daily Om... let’s get celebrating people! 🙏The Summer Solstice

BY MADISYN TAYLOR
Summer solstice represents a time to reflect upon the blessings we have received in seasons past and look toward new growth.
On the longest day of the year, the sun, which has on the days preceding seemed to rise higher and higher into the sky, reaches its zenith and rises no more. This day, which in the Northern Hemisphere can occur between the 20th and 23rd of June, marks the start of summer and is known as the summer solstice. From time immemorial, the coming of summer's light and warmth has been a time of gladness and celebration. In June, the snows had long since melted, the ground had thawed, the first fruits were ripening on their vines, and Mother Nature had once again renewed herself. Though most of us have turned away from our agricultural heritage, the summer solstice remains a time of new beginnings and life-enriching endings. It is the day the sun reaches the peak of its power as well as the day that heralds the shorter days that eventually bring with them autumn's chills.

For ancient peoples of the Americas and Europe, the summer solstice was a particularly joyous day--and one auspicious for those seeking year-long luck, fertility, abundance, and prosperity. Men and women on two continents would gather to pay tribute to the sun's magnificence, to pray for a bountiful harvest, and to bolster the sun's energy with bonfires and fireworks. Today, the summer solstice represents an optimal time to reflect upon the blessings we have received in seasons past and visualize the new bounties we hope to receive in the season just beginning to flourish. At noon, when the sun is at its highest point, we can pay reverence to its incredible strength and its ability to create life while also musing on the impermanence of life as represented by the impermanence of the season. You can reestablish your innate connection to nature on the summer solstice by spending time outdoors; following the sun's procession as the day passes; burning sun oils such as orange, benzion, or juniper; or decorating an altar with solar images, summer greens, or colorful blossoms.

Just as the summer solstice is symbolic of agricultural growth, so is it symbolic of personal growth. It is a wonderful time to nurture your potential as you would nurture a tiny seedling and let your creative energy express itself fully. On the summer solstice, you may feel compelled to emulate the noontime sun and be at one with the world around you or to let your inner brilliance shine forth at full strength, if only for a single day. Your life, like the seasons, follows a cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, and summers, whether literal or figurative, can always be celebrated.

Need a morning wake me up? Make these beautiful shower steamers:
TIP: see my essential oil properties post for help with what to use: INGREDIENTS

2 cups baking soda
1 cup citric acid
1 cup arrowroot powder (you can substitute with cornstarch)
3-5 Tbsp. filtered water
essential oils (see blends below for your specific needs)
DIRECTIONS

In a bowl, combine baking soda, citric acid, and arrowroot powder, mixing until no lumps are present.
Add water to the bowl, only 1 tablespoon at a time. Stirring the mixture together with each Tablespoon, you'll know you've used enough when it sticks together/packs down just like making a snowball. It will still look kind of dry, but if you take a handful of the mixture and squeeze it, it should turn pack easily into a ball. Too much water will make the mixture continue to react and continue puff up more.
Once you get the “snowball” consistency, begin to fill your molds, pushing down the mixture into the mold and compacting it into place. If you used too much water in the mixture, it will continue to fizz and rise while it is drying. You can counteract this by adding a bit more powder to the mix if it is too wet.
Leave the molds out overnight to air dry. (Don't worry, just like with bath fizzies and dishwasher tablets, it can take a couple tries to really learn the right amount of water to hold these together without them over-reacting. Once you get the hang of it, it'll be a breeze every time afterward!) When they are sufficiently hardened, they should release from your molds fairly easily, if they are still wet, they will not fall out with ease.
Drop essential oil drops directly onto the top of your cool and dry shower steamers. If giving as a gift, store in a nifty jar, such as a mason jar. For the ones that I keep at home for family use, I like to add the essential oil blend right before using, so that they don't evaporate from sitting in a cabinet for a long period of time.
