As we look back on the year, let’s embrace the gentle power of Ahimsa: the practice of non-violence and compassion.

Every joy, every heartbreak, every triumph, every struggle we’ve felt this year connects us to the shared experience of being human. Life certainly isn’t all sunshine & rainbows, but if we can meet it where we’re at with understanding for ourselves & others, it can help weather the storms 🌦️

May we aim to embrace this empathy into the year ahead: being kinder to ourselves & those we meet in day to day life. Ahimsa encourages us to see every moment of feeling as an invitation to grow in love and compassion - remember it is a practice, and doesn’t have to be perfect for progress 💚

To learn more about how applying the yogic principle of ahimsa can help us in veterinary practice, check out our blog on VetYogi.com

The festive season can be magical, but it can also feel overwhelming. Amidst the rush of celebrations, shopping, and social obligations, it’s easy to lose ourselves in the chaos…

It can also be a time where our negative inner voice wants to take centre stage, perhaps chastising ourselves for not getting it “right”, or feeling shame or sadness that our experiences don’t seem to match the constant comparisons we see in the media or around us.

It’s often a time where we’re more in our heads than in our bodies, but by grounding ourselves in the present moment, we can pause, breathe, and gain clarity on what truly matters at this time of year 🕊️

Discover how embracing the now can transform your festive season into one of contentment and inner calm, with our blog - The Power of the Present Moment: Ancient Wisdom for a Healthier, Happier You - https://www.vetyogi.com/blog-details/the-power-of-the-present-moment-ancient-wisdom-for-a-healthier-happier-you

Merry Christmas to you all 🎄

Full disclaimer - this pic is from a few years ago…

Honestly, I wasn’t too keen on it at the time as I wasn’t feeling my best, so I didn’t end up posting it. It’s funny how perceptions change, as now when I look at it I love just seeing my old soul boy Struie lit up like the angel he was 🐾 So thankful to for persevering with me that day and taking the photo, and for sharing Struie with me all those years 🥰

I could have forced myself to do a Christmas pic from this year, but frankly I am tired and I don’t want to 😂 It’s ok to release ourselves from the pressures of obligation for the things that don’t actually really matter, right?

I do, however, want to focus on the things that do matter, and share my gratitude for all of you! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported VetYogi over the past year & beyond, and to our wonderful team of VYC yoga teachers & helpers 💚

Wishing you all a restful & restorative festive season, and thinking of those who may not find this an easeful time of year 🕊️

Celebrating 5 Years of Linds at VetYogi 🎉

Happy VetYogiversary to the wonderful Linds, who 5 years ago was the first veterinary yoga teacher to reach out and ask “How do I get involved?!”

Having been a solo operation up until that point, I felt I must be doing something right if my little veterinary wellbeing business could attract a yoga teacher & RVN who is as kind & compassionate as Linds 💚

That kindness does not just extend towards her yoga students, but to all beings, as she is a passionate wildlife advocate & eco champion. Many a times have we been on the phone and she says something like “hang on, I just need to get the bat out”… not a euphemism btw! 😂

Over the years Linds has represented VetYogi at conferences such as & , having just attended her FIFTH LVS with us 🙌🏻 She has many classes on our VetYogi Collective online platform, all showcasing her holistic & considered approach to yoga & meditation.

In representing vet nurses, Linds helped us to get the message out that we were not just for vets, but wanted to help improve the wellbeing of the entire vet team 💚 She led the way in our VY content bespoke for vet nurses, techs & ACAs.

Linds - I cannot thank you enough for your support, passion & expertise over the last few years. YOU are as much VetYogi as anyone else, so we couldn’t let this moment pass without including you in the VY branding!

Huge thanks to another talented RVN - Samantha - for capturing Linds so brilliantly 🙏🏻

Can’t wait to see how far we’ll go in the next 5 years!

“The practice of ahimsa transports us to Golden Age awareness… ultimately we are one” - Nischala Joy Devi

In veterinary care, this awareness helps emphasise that every being we treat is part of a wider connection - deserving of patience, kindness, and deep respect, just as we are ourselves 💚

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again; the yoga we practice on our mats transforms how we go about life & work off our mats. We’re also not just talking about yoga poses (asana) either - engaging with the 8 Limbs of Yoga and leading with ahimsa for our patients, clients, colleagues & selves can have huge impact on how we feel about our vocation 🐶🐱🐰🐮🐴 🦉🐠

Explore the concept of ahimsa - and how it can shape modern veterinary practice- here: https://www.vetyogi.com/blog-details/ahimsa-how-we-can-incorporate-it-into-veterinary-practice

We’d love to hear some of the small ways you practice ahimsa both as veterinary professionals and as humans in the comments below 👇🏻
