We are so lucky to have some wonderful visitors at Mortlake Crematorium 🤍

From the gentle presence of horses and the quiet grace of geese, to curious cats, loyal dogs, and even the vibrant colours of parrots—each one brings a unique kind of comfort and life to our grounds 🕊️🐾

We love seeing these beautiful animals. They remind us that this is not only a place of remembrance, but also one of peace, connection, and natural beauty 🌿

Yesterday an owner brought her terapin for a wander and to catch some vitamin D from the sunlight.

We welcome pets at funerals as we recognise they are important members of the family.💚

Beautiful display of hyacinths, the pictures do not do them justice. The smell is amazing, do visit soon!

Mothering Sunday can carry many feelings at once.

For some it will be a day of celebration. For others it will stir memories of someone they love who is no longer here.

When a mother dies, the relationship does not end. Love does not disappear with death. It changes form.

You may find her in small moments. A phrase you hear yourself say. A recipe you cook the way she did. The instinct to comfort someone in the way she once comforted you.

Grief often brings a sharp awareness of absence, yet it also carries the trace of what was given. The care, the values, the patterns of love that continue to live inside you.

On Mothering Sunday, if the person you want to thank is no longer here, you can still speak to her in your heart. You might even write her a gratitude card and say the things you still carry inside you.

Love does not end when someone dies. It continues in the life that grows from the love they gave. 💛

WELCOME MARCH 🌿✨

These are words by Donna Ashworth

“I have always felt March to be synonymous with hope. The bubbling of much life under the soil, the innate knowing that nature is at work creating much vibrant newness. We are held within this invisible flow — we are nature too. And we respond to the light which signals all souls whether you realise it or not. March is a line in the sand of the old. A fresh chapter. A chance to begin again and rise to the occasion of creation.MARCH IS HOPE.
And hope is much needed right now.”

FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN

It’s my first Christmas in heaven,
I’ve been dreading it all through the year.
Knowing that you will be lonely,
lost to the joy and the cheer.

I’ve been sending sweet robins to find you,
and feathers have brought you my love.
I’ve been whispering secrets to raindrops,
hoping you’ll hear me above.

It’s my first Christmas in heaven,
it’s a wonderful place to exist…
And the only sadness that finds me,
is wishing I wasn’t so missed.

Because if you look closely, you’ll see me,
in every small thing that you do.
I’m the joy that sneaks in through the window,
when you stop to admire the view.

I’m the laughter that gasps from your sadness
when your soul frees itself from this pain.
I’m the comfort that warms through your blanket
as you wrap yourself up from the rain.

It’s my first Christmas in heaven,
and they told me that this would be tough.
All I can do, is remind you, you’re loved
and I’ll pray, every day, it’s enough.
