We recently enjoyed a lovely Irish Culture Day, celebrating all things Irish. We started with a traditional story, followed by Irish sayings and a fun quiz.

The people living with us had a great time trying some Irish chair dancing, which brought lots of laughter. It was also wonderful to hear from our Irish residents, who shared where they came from and spoke about local sights and memories.

We finished the day with a delicious Irish-themed lunch and a touch of Irish cream, rounding off a very enjoyable celebration.

Those living with us truly found their pot of gold this St. Patrick’s Day! The home was filled with the sounds of traditional Irish songs and laughter as we got stuck into festive arts and crafts.

One of the the highlights of the day was a very special visit from one of the talented performers from Susan Murray Irish Dancing Academy. We had a lovely display that had everyone tapping their toes. There’s definitely a lot of rhythm in the Parkview family!

Beautiful handmade costumes were shown around as residents felt the amazing workmanship and shared stories about their own dressmaking days. We also had a lot of fun with the guess the gold coin game which everyone enjoyed.

The people living with us really enjoy learning about different animals. So we brought in Shelly the Turtle. She is a Greek Turtle and 40 years old. We learned that she is very fast, eats vegetables and lettuce and that turtles stop growing at the age of 20. We also found out that Turtles can live up to 150 years and some are even older.

It was an interesting and fascinating morning. Thank you Shelly!

The people living with us have been celebrating Chinese New Year with learning about their Chinese Zodiac Sign and also trying to eat with Chopsticks.

Then we all painted some Chinese letters and were amazed by how complicated it was. Chinese lunch was lovingly prepared by our Chefs and to finish the day we all had a Fortune Cookie 🙂

Happy Chinese New Year!

We organised a 'Falls Awareness Day' for the people living with us. Our Physiotherapist gave an introduction on how to avoid falls and keep steady on our feet. We also did some new exercises to strengthen our core and become stronger and more stable. She also spoke about the correct footwear and how to check your walking aid. It was very interesting and informative.
