For the majority of children, they are built up and told how wonderful they are. They are encouraged, supported, bigged up even.

However, as they grow up they begin to lose all of those affirmations along the way. Did you lose yours? If so begin to get a bit of that childish confidence and swagger back by celebrating you today!

So look in the mirror and say to yourself I’m marvellous or marvellous me!

I love these sayings posted around a primary school. To a child that is so real! I want to hold my dreams in my hands today. My dream right now is a land of rest. What’s yours?

Fear lives in a place of ambiguity. Not only is there a light at the end of the tunnel, but sometimes you just need to switch that light on. Then the ambiguity gives way to the known.

A year ago today our lives changed. It brought chaos and anxiety, dotted with moments of deep connection and at times joy. It’s good to remember, pause and reflect. So use this opportunity to do so today. Remember bereaved families. Pause and then think of all the things you’ve come through and are grateful for.

In times gone by when we used to fly, the air hostess would give us a demonstration of how we should respond in case of emergency. When the oxygen masks fell, they always said put on your mask first before you put on your child’s. For the most part, children take their cues from us the adults. In their curious worlds they look, see, hear and mirror what we do. So take care of yourself in order to take care of your children, students or children in your lives in whatever capacity.

Why Dramatherapy?

Many moons ago I was an actress and I thought that was what I wanted. But after living the reality I felt empty and longed for something more. I found that something more when I went to Brazil and started working with the street children and those who had been rescued.

There was a huge language barrier and I bridged that with Drama. I also noted that somehow I was able to connect with the children on a personal level and speak into their lives. I was blown over and thought if only there was something that was drama and therapy that I could study back home. Low and behold I found a Dramatherapy course that ran in the Central School of Speech and Drama, and the rest is history.

I believe in what I do, I have seen the evidence of it and the power to heal. I am a facilitator, to help you journey on the path to freedom, resilience, peace or whatever it is that you are seeking. Dramatherapy works because the realisation or actualisation is yours. It’s not me telling what or how to change. It’s your lightbulb moment and that’s why it has the potential to be long lasting and life changing.

So my hope is that you’ll allow me to Journey with you in this life changing season.
