Pat Capel Psychotherapist

Pat Capel Psychotherapist If you or your loved ones are struggling with depression, anxiety or the effects of trauma, give me a call. I work with clients of all ages.

I work out of rooms in the City of London, Central London, West Hampstead, Kensington and Watford. Our fast-paced world causes stress, anxiety and depression. Grief and the experience of trauma, can also add to psychological burdens and impact on our mental health and wellbeing. Whatever the situation for you or your loved ones, I can help you. I offer therapy and counselling in Central and Greate

r London, aimed at making an immediate difference and for you to leave each session feeling better than when you arrived. I also offer counselling online for those who cannot travel to London. My background in teaching has allowed me to specialise in adolescents and I have found teenagers particularly responsive to my particular school of psychotherapy as it relies on imagination and very clear goal setting. The Human Givens approach is also a very effective method of family counselling and family mediation. I have a particular interest in delivering mental health and wellbeing training within the school context to pupils, teachers and parents. The methods I employ with young people are equally effective with adults. I have used them successfully with clients suffering with depression, anxiety, phobias (including school phobia), addictions, exam stress or performance anxiety and those in need of general coaching skills. More recently, I have been helping those with very demanding jobs find a better work-life balance. Often, a small tweak is needed rather than a lengthy commitment to regular and long term therapy. If you are looking for solution focused, short term counselling in Watford, the Square Mile, Central London or Kensington, give me a call on 020 8895 6669. I can normally see you within a week.

A very interesting article in The Guardian. These words have crept into everyday speech. As a therapist I have had to guide clients away from these are they are not always appropriate or understood accurately.

Terms like ‘triggered’, ‘toxic’ and ‘narcissist’ are now bandied about in daily conversations. Is this mere psychobabble or are they useful tools in a complicated world?

Thank you to Wetherby Senior School for welcoming me onto their lecture programme yesterday. The year 12 students were joined by the girls from Queen's College London to hear a talk and to ask questions about mental health at exam time. The parents came along later to hear and to ask questions about what they could be doing at home to ensure their children are mentally ready for exam season.

This is a really interesting article written from the client's perspective. Yes, private therapy is a luxury and can be expensive. But therapy gave her the skills and resources to make the decision to stop seeing her therapist. I aim to make myself redundant as quickly as possible by giving you the choice of if and when you return to see me. No contract. You are in the driving seat.

I was a sceptic, but it did help me get to a point where I could move on. It is a luxury, especially for Black people. I was lucky to do it, says writer Niellah Arboine
