I have been noticing a lot of clients overdoing the actives and stripping away at their skin barrier. At this time of year, the central heating and cold weather can disrupt our barrier and dry out our skin. Making a few simple changes could be all that's needed!

Save this post to refer back to whenever you start using actives/feel like you're disrupting your barrier.

Basic skincare routine in these Baltic conditions:

The below skincare steps are the basic minimum steps we should be doing. Of course, if you have specific skincare concerns there will be some steps added/targetted serums. P.S if you have acne skin you'll want to sub out the barrier cream for a lightweight cream/gel.

Cleanse (stick to a gentle, hydrating cleanser)
Antioxidant Serum (e.g. Vitamin C)
Moisturise
SPF (minimum of 30+, I'd choose 50+ all year round)

PM
Cleanse (Double if makeup)
Barrier Repair Cream

We must protect our skin barrier at all costs! A few faves:

-Cicaplast Baume B5+ La Roche Posay
- Medik8 Ultimare Recovery
- Aestura Atobarrier365 Cream
- Mesoestetic Fast Skin Repair (great post treatment!)

Save this post for when you're next doing your skincare shop!

What a huge difference treating the chin can make! This fabulous client has a very strong mentalis muscle that works overtime whenever she talks, chews, or makes any expression. My recommendation was to gently relax that muscle, and the results speak for themselves! Subtle, natural, and beautifully balanced.

This beautiful client came in with her already perfectly shaped lips, looking to achieve a slightly plumper smile. After a thorough consultation, we decided to enhance her lips with filler — creating a more balanced look without making them appear disproportionate to her other features.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this client several times since, which is such a testament to the trust and relationship we’ve built over time.

So grateful for all my amazing clients, especially those who return time and time again — you know who you are 🤍

The beautiful client above came in with her natural, untouched lips (my favourite kind!) and shared that she felt her lips had lost a little fullness over time — which is completely normal. She wanted to restore some of that volume while keeping things subtle and balanced.

We began with a lip flip to gently relax the top lip muscle, creating a slightly larger surface area to enhance, and then added filler to achieve a naturally plumper, confidence-boosting result.

So grateful for the trust my clients place in me 🤍

Do you get little flakes on your skin when applying makeup/skincare? This is known as pilling, and it happens due to products on your skin not being absorbed properly or ingredients clashing.

Potential causes:
- Applying products in the wrong order: Always apply lightweight to heavyweight.

- Not allow product absorption: Apply layers too quickly without insufficient absorption time can cause pilling.

- Too much product

- Incompatible ingredients – silicone-based products combined with water-based products can lead to pilling.

Ways to prevent pilling:
- Allow products to absorb – allow a few minutes between layers and finish your skincare 5 minutes before applying SPF and then another at least 5 minutes before makeup.

- Thin layers - Less is more! You don’t need thick layers of product for it to be effective (other than the SPF 2 finger rule!). Follow the recommended protocol for each product.

- Check product compatibility – silicone-based products combined with water-based products can lead to piling. Water-based SPF and water-based primers are usually safe. Silicone SPF and silicone primer can potentially lead to piling.
Silicone based products – look out for the below in the ingredients list of a product:
-cone
-siloxane
-conol

Examples:
Dimethicone
Cyclopentasiloxane
Cyclohexasiloxane
Trimethicone
Amodimethicone
Dimethiconol

Word of advice: Test the products on a day where you aren’t planning to go to an event. There is nothing worse than doing all your skincare, starting your makeup and stressing about pilling, then having to start all over again!
