Dentistry Awards 2025

We are incredibly proud to share that Dalmeny House Dental has been awarded Most Improved Practice 2025 at this year’s Dentistry Awards! 🏆

When we took over the practice in 2021, we knew it would be a journey — and what a journey it has been. The growth we’ve experienced has come from hard work, grit, and a relentless commitment to building strong systems and processes. Every improvement, every challenge, every late night… it has all contributed to transforming the practice into what it is today.

This award means so much because it comes from an event that brings together some of the top dental practices and clinicians in the industry. To be recognised among them is truly an honour, and a reminder of how far we’ve come in a short time.

Although we sadly couldn’t attend the ceremony to accept the award in person, we are deeply grateful. 🫶🏽

But most importantly — our team.
None of this would have been possible without the dedication, loyalty, and energy of the people behind the scenes and chairside every single day. They embraced every change, adapted to new systems, pushed through challenges, supported our patients with heart, and believed in our vision from the start. This award is just as much theirs as it is the practice’s. 💙

🦷😁RESTORING FUNCTION 🦷😁

This patient had suffered years of toothwear because of an underlying parafunctional habit (BRUXISM / Grinding)

Enamel is the hardest substance in the body. If this gets worn then the second layer of the tooth (DENTINE) becomes exposed and is softer than enamel so it will wear away quicker than enamel. 📈

Here we used composite resin restorations VENUS PEARL from to help rebuild the teeth back to what they were to help PROTECT 👷‍♂️the natural tooth and improve the cosmetic appearance.

Some of the causes of parafunctional habits:

BRUXISM which is commonly related to STRESS

Sleep disorders especially sleep apnea and snoring. Other factors proposed include trauma, genetics, smoking, alcohol, caffeine intake, illicit drugs, and certain medications.

This patient is going through a some dental rehabilitation.
A combination of parafunctional habits (grinding/clenching) and intrinsic acid erosion (gastric reflux) left this gentleman with worn down and thinner enamel.
Using the DAHL concept:

We built up the anterior teeth which causes separation of the back teeth and over a period of 4-6 months these back teeth will erupt to meet each other allowing the patient to then accommodate to the new bite.

This also allowed us to improve the cosmetic appearance of the teeth giving the patient a brighter / whiter smile 😬

1) Full mouth assessment

2) Treatment planning using digital models of the teeth to help us determine how much space is required

2) Trial Smile (Try In) - patient gets to test drive the potential new bite and we get to assess the functional and aesthetic parameters

3) Teeth Whitening using

4) Composite Restoration build up using techniques learnt from

5) Allow the bite to adapt which can take up to 6 months

This same patient suffered from years of acid reflux and finally had it resolved with a combination of medication and a change in diet

Erosive Tooth Wear

* Erosion is the loss or wear of dental hard tissue by acids not caused by bacteria.
* Erosion may be caused by intrinsic (e.g. acid reflux and excessive vomiting) and/or extrinsic (e.g. diet) factors.
* Soft drinks, particularly carbonated sodas and sports drinks, appear to be a significant extrinsic cause of erosion
We used composite resin restorations to help rebuild the tooth structure that had been lost but also to protect the remaining natural tooth. 🛡

What started off with a discussion about protecting this lovely gentleman’s remaining natural teeth from years of acid reflux led us on to a journey to help him improve his overall smile both functionally and aesthetically

First case completed and I have to say it really did help me maintain high quality in an efficient manner.

🤩 COMPOSITE VENEERS 🤩
This patient wanted to a subtle change to her smile so we carried out

1️⃣ treatment - to improve the position of her teeth but also protect her bite
2️⃣ Teeth whitening using
3️⃣ Composite veneers of the upper front 4 teeth using gaenial composite to help improve the shape/size/colour of the teeth

It’s a new day, a new month make it a good start to the month and remain positive and focused 💪🏽💪🏽 we will get through this together.
This was a pre-lockdown smile transformation
Following on from great webinar yesterday on minimally invasive dentistry we were able to give back this absolute gent his smile, using that principle.
I used the techniques that I learnt on and the course to achieve this smile.
