I know the central governor well, not just from the science, but from living on the wrong side of its warnings for far too long.

For years I pushed through midlife carrying the perfect storm many women face:

➡️ Hormones shifting
➡️ Young children moving into puberty
➡️ A career that never stopped demanding more
➡️ The invisible emotional labour of holding everyone else up

And like so many women I now support at Wellgevity, I kept going without adequate support, without a “place to fall,” and without giving my brain the signals of safety it needed.

Eventually, the governor did what it’s designed to do:
It slammed the brakes.

Not because I was weak.
Not because I’d “lost drive.”
But because my brain was trying to protect me from the load I refused to acknowledge.

Midlife is an inflection point where biology and life collide. Hormone shifts change how we allocate energy. Parenting teens requires a new bandwidth. Work often peaks just as sleep, recovery and resilience begin to fluctuate.

So many high-performing women suddenly “hit the wall.”
This is not a personal failing - it’s physiology.
A neuroprotective strategy.

If you’re feeling the friction, the slowing, the fatigue… please hear this:

“Slow down before you crash.
Listen before your body forces you to.
Redirect before you have to rebuild from zero.”

Recovery is absolutely possible - but it’s far easier to course - correct than to reverse-engineer after collapse.

Your brain isn’t betraying you.
It’s protecting you with the information it has.

At Wellgevity we help women retrain the governor, rebuild resilience and expand capacity safely - with more energy, not less.

If this resonates, comment “GOVERNOR” below.
You’re not broken - you’re carrying too much on a system designed to protect you.

Your brain is clever.
Give it a GLP-1 and it’ll quiet the cravings… for a while.
But as with most things, tolerance creeps in.
The body isn’t designed to starve - it adapts, recalibrates, pushes back.

This new case study is wild: food noise gone, the brain’s binge-urge signal goes flat…
Then months later, that signal flickers back before the cravings return.
The brain saying: “I’m adjusting.”

This is why we don’t just prescribe.
We map metabolism, gut–brain signalling, hormones, mood, sleep and behaviour - and adapt with you as biology shifts.

Memories from the inaugural brunch – co-hosted with the brilliant and the visionary Six Senses team ahead of their 2026 opening – linger with a quiet unmistakable magic. The kind that emerges only when extraordinary humans gather with shared intention.

I had the pleasure of leading the IV Bioharmony Corner offering personalised biochemical tuning within a space designed not merely for restoration but for energetic refinement. What stayed with me was not the protocols but the field we created – the resonance the attunement the effortless coherence among those present.

In longevity medicine connection isn’t ornamental. It’s a biological and energetic input.
Shared presence synchronises rhythms softens stress chemistry stabilises the nervous system and modulates the subtle inflammatory signals that shape how we feel – and how we heal.

When aligned health-conscious souls gather physiology responds.
The room breathes differently.
Insights land with clarity.
The body listens.

A special mention to for her visionary exploratory medicine
to Kamal for deeply grounding bodywork
to for his endless enthusiasm
to for keeping the humour high
to for elevating the energy
and to the exceptional voices who shaped the wider experience – , and .

Well done team – this is an extraordinary project taking shape at and . Grateful to be part of its unfolding landscape.

Here’s to more exquisite moments with this beautifully attuned community.

Co-regulation in action 💞
This data belongs to my friend and top wellness writer , who - like so many of us - tends toward overthinking, overdoing and a nervous system that sits more often in sympathetic drive.

Her HRV, usually on the lower side, showed a beautiful surge during the second phase of sleep - at the very moment she was held in a loving embrace by her partner.

In that instant, her physiology registered safety.
The vagus nerve responded, HRV rose and the body shifted into a state where repair and regeneration become possible.

Connection, trust, and touch aren’t just emotional comforts - they are signals of safety that shape our biology.

Grateful to be recognised in the Spear’s 500, Top Recommended 2025 for Preventative Medicine, Health Screening & Anti-Ageing.

This recognition reflects a path from neuroscience at King’s College London, through psychiatry and elite sport, into functional and longevity medicine - each chapter sharpening the same question: how do we help people truly thrive?

At Wellgevity®,️ we weave advanced diagnostics and targeted medical interventions with nervous-system regulation and emotional-health practices - not just to add years, but to reduce self-destructive patterns and restore balance. True longevity, to me, arrives when science meets soul and you find a community you resonate with, reflect in and grow alongside.

Longevity isn’t something you wait for.
It’s something you practice. Every day. Every choice.

My birthday “play-treat” wasn’t just fun – it was a living lab for what I stand for:
→ Movement that energises, not depletes
→ Blood sugar balanced through nourishment, not restriction
→ Breathwork that reprogrammes stress
→ Connection that floods you with oxytocin
→ Stillness that restores your nervous system

Longevity is emotional.
It’s relational.
It’s metabolic.
And when they align – your body knows.

🔬 HRV rises
🧘🏽‍♀️ Cortisol drops
💗 Inflammation calms
✨ Vitality returns

What I felt wasn’t just joy — it was coherence.
Everything syncing: mind, mood, meaning.

This is real longevity in motion.
Not a supplement. Not a spa day. A full-spectrum repatterning of how we live, feel, and connect.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month
and as someone who’s journeyed through burnout, long COVID and a tangled web of post-viral fatigue, I know just how much our mental health is tethered to our biology.

One surprising ally in my recovery? Infrared sauna therapy.

During the COVID pandemic, when my nervous system was frayed and my energy flatlined, regular sessions in an infrared sauna became a lifeline. Not just for detoxification or muscle repair – but for soothing the overwhelm. A place I could breathe again.

Here’s why it works:
Infrared (particularly near-infrared and red light) stimulates photobiomodulation – a process where specific wavelengths of light pe*****te tissue to enhance mitochondrial function, reduce oxidative stress and modulate inflammation. Think of it as charging your cellular batteries.

In the brain, PBM has been shown to increase BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), support serotonin pathways and calm microglial overactivation – a key player in neuroinflammation and mood disorders.

For me, it wasn’t just the warmth. It was the reset.
A space to regulate. To sit with myself in stillness, letting the light do its quiet work.

Mental health isn’t only about mindset.
It’s about nervous system hygiene, inflammation, mitochondrial resilience – and sometimes, sweating it out in a red-lit box with a towel on your head.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, I invite you to consider not just the mind but the milieu in which it lives.

And if you’ve tried everything else – try light.

One of my favourites? Infrared sauna sessions with .uk

I grew up in Devon—
a landscape that shaped me: fields, hedgerows, salt air, animals and the quiet presence of wild things.
Nature was always there.
It wasn’t a lifestyle—it was life.
In the context of early family trauma, it offered something vital: regulation, grounding, protection.

Born by C-section—something we now understand can impact early immune and microbiome development—
I was lucky to be immersed in soil, animals and fresh air daily.
Those exposures may have helped buffer some of the early biological imprinting.

Today, the science supports this intuition:
• Soil microbes = enhanced immune tolerance and mood regulation
• Grounding = reduced inflammation, improved sleep, balanced stress response
• Natural water + sunlight = circadian and mitochondrial support

But nature doesn’t just support us—we have a responsibility to protect her too.

On this , let’s remember that small shifts matter:
• Walk or cycle when you can—movement for you, less CO₂ for the planet
• Be mindful with flights—especially short-haul
• Recycle thoughtfully—but focus more on reducing and reusing
• Choose lower-impact brands—refillable, biodegradable, organics
• Grow something—anything—and reconnect with the soil

Our biology is entangled with the biosphere.
We heal in tandem with the Earth.
Always have. Always will.

Today take one conscious act for your health and for hers.
💚

19/04/2025

Easter invites rebirth.
Not perfection.
Not performance.
But the quiet courage to hope again.

To believe in your capacity to shift —
Not through punishment or pressure,
But through presence, compassion and care.

So many of us have learnt to self-soothe in ways that now leave us empty:
Sugar, wine, endless scrolling, over-working.
These aren’t failures — they’re strategies.
But they’re not the only ones available.

This season — symbolically, astrologically, biologically — calls for a reset.
A new kind of nourishment.

That might look like:

* Group breathwork or somatic therapy that reconnects you to your body
* A walk with a friend, instead of another late-night scroll
* L-theanine, Lion’s Mane, saffron, Alpha GPC — to support mood, calm, and cognition
* Exploring the new supplement — for deep cellular and emotional regeneration
* Massage, safe touch, infrared sauna, time in nature
* Or even booking that immersive retreat you’ve been thinking about — the one that feels like a true YES

But here’s the caution:
This is not about stacking more hacks.
Or guilt-tripping yourself for eating chocolate.
Toxic wellness culture can disguise itself as self-improvement —
But really, it can deepen shame and disconnect us from ourselves.

I stand for bioharmony.
For resilience born from compassion.
For healing that’s authentic, cyclical and deeply human.

This Easter, let your rising be your own.
Soft. Real. Restorative.
Let hope lead.

You don’t need to fix yourself.
You get to choose yourself.
Again and again.

With you on the path.

I LOVE a supplement!
Remember though they are SUPPLEMENTARY to your foundation nutrient-dense diet.
Healing from a brain injury (skiing accident), depression, and subsequent years as a professional athlete necessitated a deep dive into the science of supplements.
Curation, synergy, and evidence-based dosing are the core pillars of my approach to supplementation. Over the years, I’ve researched and personally tested countless products—my cupboards could pass for a modern-day apothecary! But it’s not just about *what* you take: *how* and *when* you take it can make all the difference. For example, downing 20 pills with black coffee is often suboptimal, because many nutrients need fat or protein to be properly absorbed. That’s why I pair my morning regimen with collagen- and MCT-infused coffee for maximum benefit.

For real clarity, advanced tests like Nutreval or the new finger-prick assay from often surprise me in their findings - to tailor your regimen. This helps avoid pitfalls—such as taking a multivitamin at night when most B vitamins are too stimulating, or mismanaging iron and zinc interactions.
Many people say they feel NO difference from supplementing - I truly believe if you have deficiencies or imbalances you will FEEL/SEE a difference when this is corrected.

As founder of Wellgevity, my goal is to provide science-backed practical strategies so you can optimise both healthspan and lifespan. If you’re looking for personalised guidance on building a truly effective supplement routine, feel free to reach out—and stay tuned for more insights on precision longevity.

With love, Tam

21/01/2025

I’ve been using red light therapy for around eight years now, having first noticed how invigorated I felt after resting under one. Then the science came in, and its popularity soared! I now use red light daily whenever possible and often add a few drops of methylene blue to my water beforehand to enhance its effect on my mitochondria. My long Covid recovery made me even more disciplined with red light use, and if you can, I highly recommend trying a full-body light bed—like the old sun beds, but with no downsides! Regular use is key.

Red light therapy (RLT) is rapidly gaining recognition as a versatile, science-backed treatment. Unlike fleeting wellness trends, RLT is backed by robust research—supporting everything from skin health and wound healing to pain relief and cognitive enhancement.

At its core, RLT stimulates mitochondria—your cells’ energy factories—enhancing ATP production, reducing oxidative stress, and accelerating cellular repair. It’s a non-invasive therapy with impressive applications for long-term vitality.

Why does this matter?

Emerging evidence suggests RLT could be a game-changer for healthspan optimisation, with potential benefits for metabolic health, insulin sensitivity, and even brain function—improving memory, mood, and sleep.

Key things to remember:

• The ideal wavelengths are between 600–850 nm.
• Overexposure can lead to burns or eye strain—so always use protective eyewear and high-quality devices.

RLT is more than just a beauty tool—it’s a step towards longevity and cellular health. Whether you’re using it at home or in clinical settings, it’s an exciting frontier in health optimisation.
