We are The Birth Republic, a community interest company that specialises in providing access to perinatally focused therapy for parents with children up to the age of 2, or who are pregnant.

The National Lottery have awarded us a second year of funding to support parents who may be impacted by trauma, anxiety or depression because of their perinatal experience.
Pregnancy loss, hyperemesis gravidarum, birth trauma, baby loss, poorly babies, NICU stays and poor postnatal care are just some of the very common experiences that leave some parents struggling to cope afterwards.
We offer a brief intervention therapy (usually 3 to 6 sessions) that supports parents to recover from trauma symptoms, lift depression and cope with anxiety.
We have over 15 years of experience supporting parents and you can find some really nice feedback from parents on our social media pages.

I have been teaching yoga for over 30 years, but I don’t often show myself on the mat. Mainly because of my own personal battle with body image and also. Censoring myself, and not being brave enough to be really seen as a black woman teaching yoga quietly to all women, of all ages and back grounds. I have taught them through pregnancy to older vintage yoginis. I want to celebrate us all. Here I am at the yoga retreat in Bali. Still practicing. I am a Specialist Perinatal Counsellor (BACP trained) with 30 years experience supporting parents.

Perinatal refers to the period from pregnancy to 2 years post partum.

I work for a not for profit company, The Birth Republic, that provides free access to therapeutic support for parents who have experienced perinatal trauma, anxiety and depression.

Perinatal trauma most commonly refers to birth trauma but can include pregnancy loss, baby loss, hyperemesis gravidarum, NICU stays, difficult feeding journeys, difficult conception/IVF experiences.

Trauma syptoms can include nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety, hypervigilance, anger, sadness, guilty, avoidance, irritability, difficulty sleeping (not related to the baby not sleeping).

We have been given lottery funding for this and can provide free sessions for parents who seek support.

Hi all I’ve not been on a stall in a while. Just letting you know that I extracted 110 lbs of honey two weeks ago and the bees are still producing loads of honey. May have to do another extraction in two weeks time.
But in the meantime, I’m busy trying to prevent
The 3 hives from swarming.

Anyway, just to let you know I will be at Walthamstow market the second Sunday in June. So come by to visit and better still buy some honey.

The purest you are going to get. It’s local and it’s not best treated. It’s straight from the hive to the jar with the help of a few honeybees.

After some consideration, I am going to set up another class for pregnancy and birth at The Barkantine Birth centre, to Start Thursday 12 September. This will be a 4 week block and you can book thorough my website. Follow the link or scan. It is not a drop in. So please do not dm me regarding that. This is for women from 12-14 weeks pregnancy and beyond who want to have the input of my 30 years experience as a specialist Yoga teacher for pregnancy and birth, who also will include Sound at the end of the sessions. If there is enough interest we will continue on until Christmas. This is for pregnant women who live in Canary Wharf and surrounding Newham area or live and work nearby. I will be coming your way soon. Stay healthy, blessed and like, share and encourage all expectant women to prepare well.
