Eating disorders affect millions of people worldwide, regardless of age, gender, or background. Let’s shed light on this important topic and support those who may be silently battling these conditions. Approximately 1.25 million people in the UK are living with an eating disorder, and around 5% of them have a lesser-known condition called ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)
🔍 What Are Eating Disorders?
• Anorexia Nervosa: Extreme fear of gaining weight, leading to severe food restriction.
• Bulimia Nervosa: Cycles of binge eating followed by purging (vomiting, laxatives, or excessive exercise).
• Binge Eating Disorder: Consuming large amounts of food in a short time, feeling out of control.
• Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID): Avoiding certain foods due to sensory issues or past trauma.

• Physical: Weight loss, fatigue, dizziness, hair loss, brittle nails.
• Emotional: Anxiety, depression, social withdrawal.
• Behavioral: Obsessive thoughts about food, secretive eating habits.
