It resets you and gives space to connect fully with the yoga. Also wonderful to be surrounded by impressive and delightful fellow students of yoga.

And the food is delicious….

It’s been ages since I’ve posted. I lost my dearest Mum in December and it’s been enough just getting through the days and weeks.

My practice has changed over the last year as it’s been so full on. When things were really intense I just tried to move my body first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Yesterday I felt I wanted to explore Paryankasana. This seated back bend opens the chest and lungs and stretches the throat, tongue and vocal cords.

I tried it on three levels of support using the bolster on its own, then a blanket on top of the bolster, then the bolster turned sideways on.

It felt very cleansing!

"The workshop was a complete gift to me and my aching bones!"

Just wanted to let any of my students with kids who are looking to have a fabulous weekend (or week) in the Ashdown Forest doing Iyengar yoga, eating yummy food and with yoga classes for their kids too - that this is happening! Run by some lovely Iyengar yoga teachers that I know (not me).

See details and links below:

Come to our weekend workshop on 27 – 28 July with Sushama Chitale and her son Mihir. It is not so far away at Michael Hall School in Forest Row and parking is easy. East Grinstead is the nearest train station and there are buses and a safe cycle path from there to Forest Row.

Sushama is coming over from RIMYI for an IY(UK) tour initiated by us at Yogapushpanjali and this is a fantastic opportunity for all students to experience RIMYI teaching without the time and expense of travelling out there! She is warm and extremely knowledgeable, having studied and worked in the medical classes with Geetaji, and we are confident that she will make all feel welcome whatever level of experience. For those with children or grandchildren, Mihir will teach children’s and teenagers’ classes and his enthusiasm and practice will be an inspiration to future generations of Iyengar yoga students.

We have a special offer aimed particularly at local students of 3 adults for £290 for the whole weekend, hoping that people will go with friends and make a party of it! The ticket includes food (our cook put smiles on everyone’s faces last year) and our storyteller will be giving the final two instalments of the Ramayana on Saturday. There are also children’s classes. The timing of the day for the adult classes will be 10.30 – 5.30 on Saturday and 10.30 – 4 on Sunday – to include lunch and a break and dinner on Saturday for those who can stay. The setting on the edge of the Ashdown Forest is beautiful.

My lovely sister Flo has been over from the States. It’s been a treat to have her staying with us and getting together as a family.

While here she came to my Thursday morning yoga class and found it challenging. I forget how hard yoga is at the beginning, how your body resists the opening and stretching that’s being asked of it. But Flo kept to her limits and enjoyed it. She’s a climber so yoga is a great combo for her.

If you’d like to come and try an Iyengar yoga class for yourself get in touch through my website or comment below.

My Story

I am a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher teaching in and around Sydenham, Forest Hill, Crystal Palace and South East London. Iyengar yoga is respected worldwide for its focus on alignment and precision through the use of detailed instruction, corrections, and props.

I’ve been teaching since June 2017 and have 6 regular classes a week, as well as teaching workshops and short courses. I’m a devoted practitioner, practicing every day (give or take the odd lie in) and I believe fervently that yoga really is for every body, whether you’re flexible or not.
