Today is Ectopic Pregnancy Awareness Day 💛

This year’s theme ‘Not just a statistic’ reminds us that behind every ectopic pregnancy are real people, real stories, and real strength. One in 80 pregnancies is ectopic, but that number alone can’t capture the heartbreak, confusion, and resilience of those affected.

We’ve created a short video to help you recognise the key symptoms that need urgent medical attention, for yourself or your loved ones.

🩺 Specialist early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology care is available across our hospitals.

We’ve launched a new endoscopy service at Finchley Memorial Hospital community diagnostic centre (CDC).

Transnasal endoscopy (TNE) is a procedure where a thin, flexible endoscope is inserted through the nose and down the throat to examine the oesophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine.

Bringing this service to the CDC frees up capacity in our hospitals and makes diagnostics easier to access for patients.

“It is a well-tolerated procedure for most, but there are some patients who may need an alternative approach,” says Andrew Millar, consultant gastroenterologist. “Having the choice of transnasal endoscopy allows patients to go home quickly and carry on with their normal day.”
