Breaking Bad News
This is an area which candidates do not do well on.
Put yourself in the patients shoes.
How would you feel if you were to receive a devastating and life changing diagnosis.
How would you want your doctor to deliver this message.
How would you want your doctor to manage you - your emotions, your feelings, your questions.
You can't be assessed on breaking bad news until you break it.
No additional data gathering will change the result you have to give.
Acknowledge the Emotion panning out in front of you
Empathise with the patient and the situation they find themselves in
Energise with hope and support ❤️💙🙏

The most powerful lesson I have ever learnt to be a better a doctor is firstly to have been a patient.
