What is Upper Cross Syndrome? 38% of People Have It.
Description: Dr Eliza explains some of the findings from a recent research paper published in January 2026 (Russin, et al. 2026), regarding the prevalence and clinical implications of upper cross syndrome. Upper crossed syndrome is a muscle imbalance condition affecting 38% of people that contributes to neck and shoulder pain. She breaks down the tight muscles (upper traps, levator scapulae, and pecs) versus weak muscles (lower traps, mid traps, rhomboids, and deep neck flexors) that create a forward head posture, over curved upper back and rounded shoulders. Eliza demonstrates a simple test you can try, a modified wall angel test, that help people identify if they have, or might be developing, this syndrome.
