Huge shout out to Jan, one of our very own cancer nurses, who took part in the Richmond Park Half Marathon this weekend and completed it in an incredible 1 hour 52 minutes! 🎉 Even more impressive, this was his first-ever half marathon!

Jan shared that earlier this year he met an oncology patient who used to run marathons in the 70s - an encounter that sparked his passion for running and inspired him to take on this challenge.

As a cancer nurse, Jan sees first hand the difference supporters make, and he’s already raised an amazing £481 to support our work. 💛

He’s now setting his sights on running a full marathon next year — so this is just the beginning of his journey.

Thank you, Jan, for your dedication, inspiration and everything you do. We’re so proud to have you as part of ! 🙌

We’re incredibly proud to share that George Alderman has been named one of four finalists for ITV London’s Fundraiser of the Year Award, part of the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards.

After the heartbreaking loss of his son, Jimmy, George founded Jimmy’s Cuddle to support children’s charities and make a real difference for families. In this video, he shares in his own words just how important this work has been.

We are so grateful to George for his tireless dedication, and to every supporter who has donated, fundraised, or cheered him on. 💛

London to Brighton Bike Ride = Conquered!🚴‍♂️✅

What an incredible day! A massive thank you to our London to Brighton cyclists who braved the wind, the rain and the Ditchling Beacon, and still crossed the finish line smiling!

From the early morning start in London to that iconic finish on the Brighton seafront, you powered through every mile with purpose 💪❤

🏅 A big congratulations to Sam who smashed the Di**le Marathon on 5th September, raising an incredible £1,521 for St George’s Hospital Charity.

Running isn’t Sam’s favourite thing, which made this challenge even more meaningful. He battled through setbacks (including a cracked rib!) and even finished the last 16km without headphones after they died mid-race, a real trooper. 💪

Sam took on this marathon in honour of his Grandpa Dave, who passed away last June after a brave fight with his health, and to raise money for the amazing team at St George’s Hospital. Their kindness went far beyond medical care - even the porters, who had never met Sam’s family, stopped to offer hugs and words of comfort. Thanks to their incredible support, Sam and his family were able to share one last goodbye together, a moment that will stay with them forever. ❤️

🌟 Thank you, Sam. Your efforts will make a lasting difference for families just like yours.

Five members of the SSD team are currently training for the London to Brighton Bike Ride, using the opportunity to not only build team spirit, but to support a healthy lifestyle and raise awareness - values they uphold every day at work.

Rapper and Top Boy star Dave has praised his mum, Juliet, for her "inspiring" mission to support patients leaving hospital.

The Juliet O Foundation, founded by former NHS worker Juliet Omoregie, is providing free discharge packs filled with essentials like non-slip socks, soap, and tea - helping vulnerable patients settle back home safely and with dignity.

Thanks to the Foundations generosity and in partnership with Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity and St George's Hospital Charity, hundreds of patients across St George's, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Group are now benefitting every month.

Juliet and Dave are proving the power of community and turning compassion into action. We couldn't be more grateful for their support 💙
