Birds in a Tree by Hugo Colville is our Artwork of the Month for February 2026! This artwork was chosen by young people who are part of the Welcome to Wandsworth Internship Programme. Earlier this month, the Arts St George's team welcomed the interns to St George's Hospital.

The group saw community and calm in this artwork. They talked about the contentment of the figures in the painting who are 'just existing together'.

Running from 15 September to 13 March, the London Borough of Culture Internship Programme gives young people aged 18 to 25 the opportunity to gain paid hands-on experience in the creative industries.

Each month, we highlight an artwork as part of our Artwork of the Month series. This series is a part of our The National Lottery Heritage Fund project, 'Our Hospital: conserving, curating and responding to St George's Art and Heritage Collection'.

In three weeks, Craig, Ko, Ali, Myles and Kam will be taking on the iconic Barcelona Marathon. Together, they’ve set themselves an ambitious collective target of 24 hours - and we’ve got every confidence they’re going to smash it.

Craig recently opened up about the team’s heartfelt motivation for running for Team George’s. After their friends’ experience at St George’s, where their daughter was treated following a cancer diagnosis, they were deeply moved by how the hospital “really changed everything for them and an incredible place supporting so many young children and their families.”

Having all grown up not too far from St George’s, the team felt it was right to dedicate their marathon challenge to the hospital that means so much to their community. And once Craig mentioned he was thinking about signing up, Ko, Ali, Myles and Kam didn’t hesitate - they jumped straight in to take on this incredible challenge together.

Wishing the very best of luck to Craig, Ko, Ali, Myles and Kam. You’ve got this! 🏃‍♂️✨

February is LGBTQ+ History Month!

Last year, Arts St George's launched the 'Shifting the Lens: Layers of Us' exhibition, co curated with members of St George’s Hospital Trust’s LGBTQ+ Network. Members of the Trust’s LGBTQ+ Network worked closely with our Creative Heritage Resident Artist, Ruan Murphy, discussing artworks in our Art and Heritage Collection. The curators selected artworks exploring themes of family, love, layers, gender, fluidity, conflict and duality and wrote new interpretation to give their personal perspective on the artworks they selected together.

You can visit this ongoing exhibition on the ground floor corridor of Lanesborough Wing. Click this link to read more about the display - https://bit.ly/4s3A8DW

Last week, our Resident Artist, Josh Bilton led a fantastic Painting Workshop for staff, as part of the regular Paediatric Health and Wellbeing Mornings.

After being guided through some mindful breathing and movement, participants were invited to thoughtfully mix and pick three colours in paint, and build up a square image on cotton paper.

It was brilliant to see the wonderful results, but even more brilliant to see how happy and relaxed the room felt!

A bit of extra support can make a big difference, especially for those who need it most 🤝 That’s why we’ve teamed up with the Juliet O Foundation; a charity founded by former NHS worker Juliet Omoregie and proudly endorsed by her son, world-famous rapper Dave.

📦Together, we’re delivering 1,000 care packages to elderly patients leaving hospitals London and transitioning back to their homes. And as seen here, we've delivered the first batch of care packages to St George's Hospital Charity in Tooting, South West London.

❤️‍🩹 Each one is packed with daily essentials to assist recovery – toiletries, warm clothing and comfort products. We’ve also included details about our Priority Services Register, so more people can access the vital support they deserve.
