Fiona and Michela had a productive day on Saturday, connecting with the local community, raising awareness about the services we provide, and promoting our green initiatives. 💚

They had numerous meaningful conversations and were happy to be joined by other team members, family members, and their lovely resident, Joan!

💚Our Beechwood Grove care home has a week packed full of activities for Green Week!💚

Over the past few days their residents have been busy in the garden, picking the beautiful fresh tomatoes and fragrant herbs they’ve been nurturing all summer – there’s nothing quite like the taste of homegrown produce! 🍅🌿

To round off the week there is a fabulous Eco Fair planned!

📅 Sunday 28th September, 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Beechwood Grove Care Home (44–48 E Dean Road, Eastbourne BN20 8EH).

It’s shaping up to be a lovely afternoon with:

🌸 Eco-friendly stalls
🎨 Ethical arts & crafts
🛍️ Artisan products
🎶 Music
🍎 Local produce
☕ Food & drink

It’s a wonderful chance to come together, celebrate our residents’ hard work and enjoy all things green and sustainable! 💚

💚Oakland Care’s Strategic Commitment to Sustainability and Social Impact💚

At Oakland Care, sustainability isn’t just a set of initiatives, for us it is part of our core business strategy that drives how we operate, innovate, and engage with our communities.

, held every September, is our annual celebration of this commitment. This year, we’re proud to launch our ‘Support a School’ initiative, offering up to £1,000 in funding to local schools for meaningful projects. Our DBS-checked Green Team will also volunteer their time to help bring these ideas to life like building outdoor reading areas, wildlife gardens, and more.

We’ve also updated our Sustainability Strategy 2025, detailing our key progress including:
✅ Over 2,000 trees planted
✅ 50% reduction in paper use since 2023
✅ Expanded electric-only developments powered by renewable energy
✅ Continued commitment to Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero by 2050

From our ‘Support a School’ initiative to biodiversity projects, our Green Week kicks off from Monday 22nd – Sunday 28th September, our volunteering schedule is packed with opportunities to make a difference.💚

Recently, our residents at Care Home shared their deepest gratitude to all emergency service workers — the police, firefighters, paramedics, doctors, nurses, and hospital staff - on Emergency Services Day.🚒👩‍⚕️👮‍♂️

The team said, "Your courage, dedication, and compassion keep our communities safe and cared for".

To show their appreciation, the residents made special gifts as a token of thanks to these emergency services heroes! ❤️

Next week, our Care Home is delighted to host a special talk introducing their inspiring new collaboration: the GROW Community Garden!

The Grow Community Garden is an inclusive community garden in which brings people together in a safe and supportive outdoor space to grow organic vegetables.

Join them along with their guest speaker Heidi Chow from Grow Community Garden as they share the story behind this meaningful initiative, exploring its roots and the positive impact it will have on our local community and sustainability efforts.

Creating something they genuinely enjoy wearing brings so much more than just a beautiful accessory.
