Feedback from Harry who attended nearly all of my weekly classes when I was teaching in Didcot.

💗 I love when people who are completely new to yoga trust me enough to try one of my classes.

💗 My intention is to help people who may not think about themselves as flexible or athletic to find joy in movement and improve their range of movement. And through that, ultimately, their lives and overall well-being.

💗 And it is really not a fashion parade. I love the relaxed vibes where everyone wears what they feel most comfortable in, without having to worry about if they can replicate the typical yoga esthetics you see on Instagram.

It was lovely to see so many of you in tonight's class. I especially enjoyed seeing your super cute cats at the end of the class. 😍 So far we raised £119 for Crisis, so on track to get to £150 by the end of the month. 💪👌🤞

Hello lovely yogis. I am thinking about starting an online yoga class on Wednesday evenings 7-8pm GMT / 20.00-21.00 CET. I have been hesitant to teach online bc I live in a shared flat in London and the only place where I could do this is my living room. So there won't be a beautiful white walls and swiss cheese plants in the background, but I'll just work with the space I have. Is this something you'd be interested in?

The biggest value I experience from yoga practice (including breath work/pranayama) and self-awareness work (mainly through therapy or journalling) is the ability to create some space between what is happening to me and how I respond to it. In that space - with continuous practice - I can increasingly choose my behaviour, and do what is right for me, what is aligned with my values and what feels authentic and true to me, rather than acting as an automatic response to external triggers.

New year new you. This simple sentence can be a source of great dissatisfaction. If we believe happens just by deciding something or someone needs to be different and exerting disciplined effort towards this, then failure is to be attributed to our lack of to carry on. This is not entirely true. We all have our own complex set of experiences, values, beliefs and thoughts that guide our behaviour. These patterns can support or hinder our attempts to change, therefore increasing our -awareness is an important starting point of any -improvement work.

We can understand ourselves better by paying attention to how we feel, think and act in different situations. This is the sort unsexy observation work that happens in the background, cannot be seen by others and we can only reap its benefits in the long run. But it is essential for deep and lasting change.

It is especially important if you keep finding yourself in repeating the same unhelpful patterns and repeatedly sabotaging your progress in areas that are important for you. (sitting with your thoughts and trying to observe them without enagaging with them), , , plus slow and intentional practice can all help develop this sort of -awareness.

Reflecting on last year

I started 2020 with a breakup and a new job, which meant closing my yoga classes and moving from the countryside to London (perfect timing to move away from friends and nature, just before Covid-19 got real bad). This was the 9th time I moved houses in 9 years. I thought this all was going to throw me off balance big time, leaving me feel anything but and - especially as an expat with no family in the UK. The anticipation of how hard it would all be took up a lot of energy and left me feel fearful and powerless. Yes, spending weeks at a time completely alone in a flat in London where I knew literally no one in walking distance was lonely. Starting a new job in home office was weird. But it was all also kinda ok at the end.

I have no doubt that many of you are or will be in situations this coming year where things look grim and where you start to doubt if you will be ok. You may go through some major hardship in much more significant ways than what I described above. Or you may be at a point where minor annoyances, the daily grind and the lack of light at the end of this covid tunnel just seem too much to handle. But I'd like you to at least entertain the idea that you may already have within you what it takes to deal with it. Or if you don't already have it, it is also perfectly possible that you'll rise to the challenge. At least allow this idea to enter the realm of possibilities. No one can guarantee that everything will be fine. But also there is no evidence that everything will just be 100% s**t.

I encourage you all to observe the way you think and challenge any rigid thought patterns you find. It is possible these were once adaptive but they don't serve you any longer. Put down whatever holds you back. Start with just a few minutes a day and try to allow yourself to be curious rather than fearful about the future. It may be great, it may be s**t, or most likely it'll be a mixed bag of hardship and happiness. But what matters is that you may surprise yourself just how well you'll deal with it all.

My story

I found yoga 8 years ago when I was searching for holistic practices that integrate mind and body. As a Psychologist, I find it fascinating to see the benefits yoga can have on our mental health and wellbeing. In my teaching I combine physical movement (asanas), breath work (pranayama), meditation and mindfulness.

I work full time as a Management Consultant in London and I know what it feels like when you try to juggle the yogic path with corporate life. This has a strong influence on my approach and I work hard to help fellow yogis apply the yogic teachings and practices to their busy daily lives.

I love variety, so I design each of my class around specific themes - often based on my students' recommendations (e.g. balance; goddess within; resilience or hips, just to name a few). I teach a mix of hatha, vinyasa flow, restorative and yin-style yoga. I also bring in my knowledge and experience as a psychologist and mindfulness practitioner and regularly run Mindful Yoga and Relaxation workshops in the UK.

I am a Yoga Alliance certified teacher (RYT 250). I completed my 250hours Advanced Teacher Training with Sam Rao in the UK - focussed on Classical Hatha Yoga.
