When Should You Get Tested for HIV?
If you believe you may have been exposed to HIV, even in the absence of symptoms, it is important to get tested as soon as possible. Early diagnosis allows for early treatment, which can significantly improve long-term health outcomes.
While some individuals experience symptoms within a few weeks of exposure, others may remain asymptomatic for years. Early symptoms can include skin rashes, sore throat, persistent fatigue, nausea, diarrhoea, headaches, muscle aches, or swollen glands.
However, the only way to know your status for certain is through testing. We recommend getting tested no later than 10 days after potential exposure. For those at higher risk, routine testing is strongly advised to protect both personal and public health.
At Broadgate GP in central London, we offer fast, confidential HIV testing with results delivered promptly. Our experienced medical team provides professional, non-judgemental care in a discreet clinical setting.
